Re:2 weeks for a WEP?
Depends, does the time estimate include removing the multiple viruses/malware that came along for the ride with the WEP cracker?
I've yet to see any problems of this type with Backtrack
....?Download it...install or to computer/thumbdrive...and voila, you're up and running....I've not heard of any malware problems with this before?

BackTrack
As a network engineer and someone who uses BackTrack at least once a week for penetration testing, it is obvious to bme that the people who come up with these laws have no idea about anything related to the field of network and server security. Why are these morons making the decisions?

BackTrack 5 is free software
http://www.backtrack-linux.org/backtrack/backtrack-5-release-tool-suggestions/
Perhaps most importantly BackTrack 5 âoerevolutionâ will be our first release to include full source code in its repositories. This is a big thing for us, as it officially joins us to the open-source community and clears up any licensing issues which were present in BackTrack 4.

Re:Teach them how to communicate
A bit of security would ensure an avenue for a useful and happy career as well.
http://www.backtrack-linux.org/ has a distribution toolkit for security. Either a personalized tutorial could be constructed around it or Backtrack offers their own programs either online or live.
Let's be secure out there with that information. -

Re:Reminds me of...
And what the hell, so we have malware analyzer distribution in the story, a honey pot distribution in the parent, why don't we finish off this security distribution triumvirate with a penetration tester distribution as well: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/

Re:WEP not secure, use WPA with random key
They have a hardware compatibility forum:
http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forums/
I've used it on this laptop, it has lots of Intel parts in it (none of which were all that fancy when I bought it). I suppose they probably don't bother making USB dongles though.

Free Wifi cracking kit: Download here and use with brain 1.0 and any USB wireless dongle.

Re:I know. Nevertheless, it's a warning. See...
The scary part is that it doesn't have any of the torrents I've actually downloaded in the past few days, like BT4 which was a huge swarm and came in at like 3 MB/s.

Re:Best SSID
claimed that cracking wireless networks was "just in theory" and that 64 bit WEP was in "as secure as a wired network".
