    I found an interesting article on someone tracking down some botnet masters by contacting a few of the infected users, getting a copy of the trojan and running it in a sandbox.

    After reading the review of Dan Farmer and Wietse's Forensic Discovery, you should hear about The Grugq who got fired from @stake after writing a Phrack Article in which he exposed numerous flaws in The Coroner's Toolkit by Dan & Wietse. Before you read this book, check out the video (bittorrent) of The Grugq on The Art of Defiling and see how to defeat "industry grade" forensic tools and techniques . You can also meet him at a hacker convention near you (in March at BCS2005 in Jakarta, in April at Black Hat in S'pore and Amsterdam and at HITB2005 Bahrain.

    I wish people would talk about the work of The Grugq who got fired from @stake after publishing an article in Phrack Magazine. He will be talking in Jakarta, Indonesia at BCS2005 in March, Blackhat Singapore and Amsterdam in in April. (and he will probably never speak in USA because he embarasses and ridicules the profession and ... the FBI.

    Make sure you watch Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex Series 1st gig (26 episodes) and 2nd gig (17 episodes and still running)

    You can grab them using bittorrent. The subtitles made by the Laughing Man are excellent (the licensed versions of most Japanese anime suck.)

    Same thing for GiTS 2, Innocense... even if you bought the DVD you should try to find the fansubs (subtitles).

    Mac-on-Linux is a linux/ppc program which makes it possible to run Mac OS in parallel with Linux.

    MOL is primarily intended to be used by those who run linux/ppc as their main operating system but still want to be able to run that occasional Mac OS application.

    Oh, and soon it would be possible to run linux on top of Mac Os X too.

    Digital Forensics and the Art of Anti-forensics

    The Grugq The rise in prominence of incident response and digital forensic analysis has prompted a reaction from the underground community. Increasingly, attacks against forensic tools and methodologies are being used in the wild to hamper investigations.

    This talk will: familiarize the audience with Unix file system structures; examine the forensic tools commonly used, and explore the theories behind file system anti-forensic attacks. In addition, several implementations of new anti-forensic techniques will be released during the talk.
