Re:Yep
Companies like BFG
Believe it or not, some companies do care about their reputation and dont ship stuff they know is broken out the door. A company like Dell, however, see's that broken batch as an opportunity to fuck both you AND their supplier. -
Re:Curious to see where this one goes...
Here's BFG's Limited Lifetime Warranty

I'm using them
Those links are about 5 months old. I bought Vista with the BFG 8800GTS OC 320MB last weekend, and everything is running smoothly. Got the Aero effects and ran some DX10-only demos. So far so good.

"In 5 years modern games won't even run on the machine you are talking about building, yet PS3 games always will. Games will become more and more optimized for the PS3 hardware where as in the general purpose computer realm developers will expect more powerful machines to be purchased so no need to optimize."
Lol. In 5 years there is a high chance that modern games will run on this rig.
I bet you're wondering why. -
Re:Hmm... some errors in the article
BFG overclocks their boards. Because the perceived risk in this they warranty them for life. 350MHz is standard for the GT, 370MHz is what BFG runs the card at.
Check out the product description -
O RLY?
http://www.bfgtech.com/7800GTX_256_WC.html
BFG GeForce(TM) 7800 GTX OC(TM) with Water Block. Factory overclocked to 490MHz / 1300MHz (vs. 400MHz / 1000MHz standard), this built-to-order card will feature a water block instead of a GPU fan for those wanting to purchase or who may already have an existing liquid-cooled PC system. BFG will hand-build your card using Arctic Silver 5 Premium Thermal Compound. Easily hooked up to any existing 1/4" tubing system or to 3/8" tubes with the included adapters, this card runs cool and silent. BFG Tech is proud to offer their true lifetime warranty on this graphics card. (Card with water block requires internal or external water cooled system, sold separately.) -
Re:Fanless?
Will the low-end of this generation be fanless?
Even the high-end cards in this generation can be fanless. BFG has a water-cooled version of the 6800 Ultra. -
bfg technologies
bfg technologies striks me as another company like this. If you go to their web site and look around you will see that theya re a group of techie gammers who made a video card company. If you look at the "Why we are different" section of their web site you will see that the
1. offer 24 hr tech support.
2. a lifetime guarantee on all their cards.
3. that the owners of the company are huge gamers who make the cards so that can use them when the play games. -
Re:Clearly a first-gen sample
When I talked with the guys from BFG (who are already taking preorders) at the HardOCP Workshop, they had a FX card on hand that you could look at up close. I asked one of their guys about the huge ass coolers and they said that the manufacturers had the choice to put their own type of cooling on it if they wanted. So I'm sure there will be some 1 slot options out there if the customers demand it...
