Re:Another holiday:
It's too late. Bill Gates died in 1999 and all he got was a website devoted to the fact.

Bill
I just killed off Bill Gates (bill-gates on facebook), I found all I needed to know on wikipedia and google to fill out the deceased form, and I did it as Paul Allen and used http://www.billgatesisdead.com/ as proof. While I know it will never fly and surely they will throw it out, it was rather satisfying trying.

Kill Bill?
I was pretty sure that he was already dead!

Re:Terrible news.
You're wrong. Bill Gates is dead.

Re:Kill Bill
Obviously, the only way is to kill Bill Gates. Not figuratively, but literally and personally.
Dude, Bill Gates is already dead.

Here's a mirror of the article.

Re:Cost of publicity
It's amazing that a billion dollar corporation is so insanely profit driven that they can't even do something out of *good will*. It must become a profit opportunity.
While I know there is a separation between the actions of Microsoft and the actions of Bill Gates, Bill Gates himself has done plenty of things purely out of good will. His charity donations are interesting to me, in that he donates to causes like disease research -- rather than following the tradition of many philanthropists of yesteryear, donating mostly to public works which are subsequently named after them (I'm sure he does this too, but I believe the main focus is on international health). Note that I'm not saying there's anything wrong or selfish about that--I'd rather study in the Kelvin Smith Library than study in my dorm room, but the selflessness Gates has shown with his riches is one thing I do admire (granted, it doesn't make up for Windows ME, but nobody's perfect). Here's a pretty good cache of stories about his charitable donations. -
Re:it's very ironic..
that with his books containing the content that they do, Stephen King manages to die every single day here on slashdot. hmm, i wonder if he gets all of his ideas from doing this.
Well, Bill Gates was shot on December 2, 1999.

So I guess Stephen King felt left out (or is doing a bit of self-advertising to keep his name in heavy circulation).
