Re:Reminds me of Hanle
Nice sky there! I've been aware of Hanle/Mt. Saraswati for a while, because it's one of the three observatory sites in the world (the 5000m part of the Atacama Desert in Chile and ~4300m Mt. Evans outside Denver are the other two) that are higher than Mauna Kea (where I work and sometimes take pretty pictures), but this is the first picture I've seen of the night sky there. If I ever get back to India, I want to go there, instead of hanging out in Delhi again.

Re:It matters because--"right" Dan Birchall
I don't see any mention of NASA in his resume.
Still, I'd take an anti-spam Dan Birchall over a NASA administrator anyday... much more useful in my everyday life. -
Re:Urchins are well protected
Ouch. Here in Hawaii we have black and banded long-spined venomous urchins, probably pretty similar to what's in Bali. They're pretty visible (if you're watching where you're going) and easily avoided (thank goodness they haven't evolved the ability to launch venomous spines like torpedoes at swimmers!) but yeah, stepping on one would be nasty. I once stepped on a non-venomous collector urchin, and that hurt enough, so I give the venomous ones a wide berth unless I'm taking pictures of them.

Re:Good idea, but flawed
There are some instances where it can be difficult to categorize things. And what if I don't feel the need for the library I just set up to have a "Queer" section? Or what if I'd like a "Travel" section? Huh? Huh?
;)That said, I can say that it does do some cool stuff. Plug in an ISBN, and 9+ times out of 10, it'll auto-populate the rest of the indexing information, even grabbing a review off Amazon about it.
