How about a whole body? Like Professor Jameson?
Not ashes, not even DNA. If my whole body is on the moon, there is a small chance future alien civilization will be able to save my brain, put it in a robot body, and I will live forever just like the Zoromes!

Don't fear. I haven't read any of the 2003 novels and I'm the guy who submitted the article. I find I read mostly short fiction these days: I was happy to see so many short stories from F&SF, the only magazine to which I currently subscribe. Between it, Black Gate (which I highly and selfishly recommend - see below), my day job, and my own writing, I only read 2-3 novels a year. I'm still going through 2002 paperbacks, but the Locus list will be handy come (say) June.

The next step - cut out the middlemanA comment on this thread got me thinking about a Mafia based MMPORPG. On the surface, it might not seem like a good idea (in days of yore, TSR's Gangbusters RPG was always an also-ran), but if you gave it a twist it might just fly.
Specifically, I was thinking about the MMPORPG described in Todd McAulty's great story The Haunting of Cold Harbour . Basically, think of the Mafia with Ghouls, Vampires, and some cyborgs thrown in (and, no, it's not a straight Buffy rip off). I quit EQ last year to better cope with RL, but a game like this would definately suck me in.
Shameless plug: If you get a chance to pick up a copy of Black Gate , which printed "Haunting," do so. It really is a great collection of fantasy stories, book reviews, and RPG articles. And I'm not just saying that cause I've got a story coming out this Summer... really!
