I'll even spot you their ability to change their prdedictions over the years as they get more time with their models and more data.

Right there, anyone with any sense knows not to trust the IPCC models, period. If you are still quoting them after seeing the above you are intellecutally dishonest by choice.

Every time some 'weird weather' happens, it's a sign of global warming. If you don't realize this, it's because you aren't paying attention. Hurricane Sandy, Japan Tsunami, whatever it is, you see articles popping up about global warming.

The proof is in the absolute fuck-ton of easy to validate wide scale observational data, core sound principles(like absorption spectra of greenhouse gasses), and the staggering accuracy of mainline predictive theories.

The core principles are sound. We know that CO2 can have an effect on the atmosphere. We know that we are releasing CO2 into the atmosphere.

The mainline predictive theories are not staggeringly accurate (as the snow problem in England, mentioned above, shows). As graphs like this and this and this show, it's seeming more and more like the climate change models are overly pessimistic (which of course is a value judgement; if you like warm weather, then you might say they are overly optimistic).

There is also plenty of unscientific behavior among scientists, as the Chris Landsat hurricane situation shows, and the CRU emails show.

You can be legally fired for belonging to the wrong political party.

Depends on the state. In Washington, California, Colorado, Michigan, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Louisiana, and Florida it's illegal to fire someone for political activity or for not voting for your employer's preferred candidate, or for belonging to a particular party. The linked blog post is by an employment attorney, so it's reasonably sure to be correct. Some states are more specific than others about what specific political activity can not be used to justify firing. Some extend protection to all activity. Others are specific only to voting.

I doubt use of contraception is legal grounds for termination anywhere, because it's illegal at the federal level to fire someone on the basis of their religion, and use or non-use of contraception is obviously a religious choice in this context. (It shouldn't be, but it is.)

3. Global Sea Ice at Record Levels. Al Gore and John Kerry 5 years ago predicted that 2013 would be ice free in the arctic. You probably havent heard that the exact opposite came true. 2013 is currently at the second highest volume of sea ice ever recorded and will probably break the all time record before the season is over.

4. Half of Meteorologists Dont Believe in Global Warming. Nearly half of meteorologists and atmospheric science experts donâ(TM)t believe that human activities are the driving force behind global warming, according to a survey by the American Meteorological Society.

5. Only 75 Climate Scientists Believe in Global Warming. You probably have heard ad nauseum that 97% percent of Climate Scientists believe in global warming. That stat was based on a study which counted only 75 of 77 Climate Scientists. Compared to the over 31,000 scientists who have signed a petition saying they dont believe in Global Warming. Thats only 2.3 in 1,000 or .23% of scientists that actually believe in Global Warming.

6. NASA caught fudging historical temps to make it look like the globe is warming. By massively cooling the past in their recent graphs, NASA has exaggerated the amount of warming they report by nearly twice as much as they did 13 years ago.

7. Polar Bear Population at Record Levels. Since we've been keeping count the Polar Bear population is estimated at a record high of 20k to 25k. 5,000 are expected to be born around the New Year in Russia alone.

8. Obama Allows Wind Farms to Kill Eagles Without Penalties. Over 50 years ago the green movement started with the book Silent Spring which alleged that DDT was killing the Bald Eagle. Now we have come full circle by allowing wind power companies to kill eagles without penalty because its good for the planet.

I am not retired but just happen to be interested in Machine Learning methods and this problem seems to be difficult enough since only few people have created anything that would even closely perform at skilled human operator level. I did investigate some speech recognition algorithms such as HMM and SOM. I have spent also some time collecting data and training software to recognize real world noisy and messy signals. In fact the current shipping version of FLDIGI package has one of these algorithms (SOM) built in.

I don't have a PhD in related field but I have studied signal processing and even wrote some software for MRI image reconstruction and processing earlier in my career. The papers I have read on speech recognition over the last 20 years have certainly improved the state of the art but the methods are more incremental improvements than some ground breaking new discoveries.

BTW - How is that Siri working for you in a noisy car with windows open at highway speed? Humans can still understand each others in this kind of conditions.

I did some testing using classifiers in WEKA package but was quite disappointed on the results. My next attempt was to leverage PNN (Probabilistic Neural Network) and got somewhat better results. In the test runs with noisy audio files with Morse code I got up to 90% accuracy in classifying dits and dahs. I have not used FANN package a lot though I installed it on my development machine 1-2 years ago. What are your thought about FANN exactly? How would you go about using the package?

I have two SDR receivers myself and using them actively. The problem is not in the volume of data but having a set of data with a lot of variability to find out limits where the decoder stops working correctly. I integrated the decoder to FLDIGI with the hope that I get other hams to try this out and report back when they observe conditions where decoder stops working.

I have also created many synthetic Morse files with different speed and Signal-to-noise ratio in order to plot the performance of the decoder under controlled conditions. Testing all variations manually is pretty labor intensive work even though I have written some automated scripts to run these test sequences and plot the results.

I am using CW skimmer fairly actively - in fact I have been corresponding with Alex, VE3NEA who wrote the CW Skimmer. He gave me the idea of pursuing Bayesian framework as I have been progressing in developing a well working CW decoder. The main difference here is that I am focusing on improving FLDIGI which is open source software while CW Skimmer is a commercial software package. I do agree with you that CW skimmer does a great job decoding multiple streams simultaneously. Once the algorithm works decoding multiple streams is not that difficult.

The reason you have companies like Netflix, Facebook and Microsoft (and to a lesser degree Google) determining immigration policy is that they enjoy a network effect subsidy and there are cultures out there that have been so long without any kind of a frontier that they have evolved very sophisticated parasites.

If you want an efficient market, distribute network effect profits as citizen's dividends. Network effect profits can be extracted from the economy by shifting the tax base away from economic activity and toward liquidation value of assets.

Once the citizens realize that every immigrant is a dilution of the value of citizenship, immigration reform will be more rational.
