I implemented a similar design myself, although I made several other changes to minimize the distance to the mouse, including moving the cursor block to the left as well.

I have a Cherry G86-63401, but with the alphanumeric keys taken from a G86-61411. I would have preferred the version without a trackpad (gaining 12 keys), but the one with just happened to be under $60 on two separate occasions (I have two now).

Why? Well, it's an 18x8 matrix (no stagger), aside from the segment lost to the trackpad at lower right. It's rubber dome, but it's a nice rubber dome. The keys are POM (Delrin). All the keys that are not stolen from the other keyboard are the type with plastic lenses, under which any graphic can be placed. I have it arranged in a modified Dvorak layout of my own design, because it is completely programmable at the hardware level.

However, if mechanical keyboards are more your thing, there is Tipro. They're not common at all in the U.S., but they are in Europe. Cherry MX Black switches, matrix or staggered layout, fully programmable. Also expandable (you can attach modules end to end). Another option, if you can find it, is the rare Cherry MX Brown version of the G86 series which has all the features of a normal G86, but with mechanical switches replacing the rubber dome and membrane. Although rare, I have seen these sell for under $300.

This is really a question for Deskthority, don't you think? There are hundreds of threads on this topic there, and also people willing to sell you things.

My experience with Dvorak was vastly different.

Within a few hours, I was at half my QWERTY speed. This made it tolerable to continue.

Within two weeks, I was at my QWERTY speed.

Within two months, I was hitting 80 WPM, as opposed to the 45 I got (and still get) from QWERTY. This slowly ramped up to 90, where the primary limitation on my speed is how fast I can think, not how fast I can move.

My current keyboard is not only Dvorak, but a custom matrix (no stagger) layout.

I chose to solve this problem another way: by moving the numeric keypad and cursor keys to the left side of the keyboard.

I still need to polish it up a bit, but this is my own custom fb2k theme. Note that it not only has album art for the currently playing tune, but smaller thumbs for albums in the main list and a coverflow-like selector at the bottom.

I'm still deciding whether I want to keep the coverflow part around, integrate it differently or remove it altogether. The top control bar (to the left of the progress bar, which is also the actual waveform of the playing tune) has a few placeholder stop symbols because I haven't created the art for them yet, but overall I'm nearly done with it.

If you don't want to bother learning fb2k's scripting language, you can download a lot of nice, premade themes from DeviantArt. You can make fb2k look and work just like any other player or make it work the exact way that you want it to.

My understanding is that it's not valid to say "it can do level 5 in some conditions". Level 5 means no human interaction (think no steering wheel) under all situations that a human driver can currently handle.

Dropbox has a client for GNU/Linux OS; Box appears not to because of low demand. Did the price of this "subscription to Box Sync" include a subscription to Windows for Linux users to run in a VM? Or how well does the Box client for Windows work in Wine? Or are you using an unofficial client?

I suspect you got downmodded because you're making a very extraordinary claim. You're telling me that Outlook or IE actually runs an executable with no additional warnings? I'm sorry, but unless you show me some proof of that, I find it incredibly hard to believe.

Take a look at this simulation video showing the infection process. How many steps did the user have to take to extract and then execute the Cryptolocker installer? They had to click on the attachment and save it to disk, unzip the contents, and then execute the installer, bypassing a warning screen in the process. That isn't just clicking on a single link in an e-mail.

Note that this is Thunderbird, not Outlook, but the process should be the same for any modern e-mail client. And no modern browser will purposefully execute native code just by clicking on a link, or we'd all be swimming in malware by now. Unless there's a security exploit involved or a *very* old version of the software, I'd be astounded if that were this possible, given what we've learned about security in the past fifteen years or so.

There are best current practices (BCPs) from network infrastructure up through application and service design which must be implemented in order to maximize resilience and minimize the potential for abuse.

Hey, I don't know why you've been modded down to oblivion, but thanks for mentioning EchoFS. I'd not heard of it before. It works great with davfs in Linux... something that is pretty difficult to find, at least with this amount of space.

Dropbox is garbage. They don't offer much in the way of free space, their pricing scheme is a joke and they don't even support WebDAV.

Box has them beat on every account. Hell, even Microsoft Skydrive is better if you just need some free space.
