Re:They cost about $79
Bose has more problems than just inaccurate sound...
This guy writes a fun rant
:-)http://philintheblank.com/philled/Bose.html
No Highs, No Lows, Must be BOSE!
Love it! (aside from the bizarre and unncessary political cracks about President Clinton and President Kennedy). I've seen the commercials... I think... I can barely remember, don't remember Herbie Hancock in them, and I don't see a problem with someone lying to promote some product (anymore... I am used to it, this is America ffs)... and I think I have seen someone that had 901's, but I never heard them nor was aware that there was an entire theory behind them, had no idea they were anything more than regular speakers of Bose's design. I have never actually purchased speakers for myself! But I when I do, I'll definately take a listen to his suggestion as par for the course, the Cambridge SoundWorks Model Twelve, if I can find them, but I think I can do better than a Panasonic SLSX469V that he recommends. If someone so passionate about fidelity sound is recommending a $500 system, I just can't ignore it. There's nothing wrong with purchasing used speaker systems, IMO, the more they are used (but not abused) the better they sound.

Re:Hope they go bankrupt
Yes I am sure.
http://www.cambridgesoundworks.com/store/category. cgi?category=about_csw
This was brought on because Creative Labs president wanted to turn all the CSW stores into "Creative Labs" stores, kind of like Apple has it's store. The problem was the only thing he had to stock the shelves with were crappy second rate MP3 players. He thought that the american people would line up in long lines to have a huge selection MP3 players that were cheap. So he took 60% of the CSW products and supporting products out of inventory in the stores and threw in a bunch of crappy MP3 players.
Needless to say he was wrong. -
Re:Nothing for you to see here. Please move along.
Not only that but it is a square inch. It is way to thick for such a small device. My Creative Muvo is about perfect in that regards. It is small, flat, rounded edges, and not too small. And it uses regular AAA battery, rather than a proprietary LiIon that will need replacement every year.
The mobiblue device just seems to gadgety and not that useful. -
Re:Kloss?
Henry Kloss died in 2002 so it's not a problem for him anymore, especially since he used the bnrand name Tivoli Audio for his fabulous radio-sets.
Don't forget about Cambridge Soundworks which is now a Creative company. The Model 88CD Table Radio by Henry Kloss was still being sold until mid december of 2004. Not to speak of KLH (Kloss, Lowe, Hoffman) or Advent. See This small memorial for some more details.
The problem with Henry Kloss is he always had his finger in a number of companies... but you could always tell it was one of his designs when it was marked Henry Kloss.

Try Cambridge Soundworks
I got my speakers from Cambridge SoundWorks. They are a great company, and their speakers are high quality for much cheaper than the equivalent from Bose etc. it's worth reading up on their stuff...

Cambridge Soundworks
This Christmas, I gave my parents a DeskTop Theater 5.1 DTT2500 Digital from Cambridge Soundworks. Although it is intended as a sound system for a computer, it works very well as a home theater system.
What impresses me the most about this system is the number of inputs that are available and the fact that everything you need to set it up is included in the box.
The sound quality for such an inexpensive system is very good. I am building my own home theater setup in the very near future and I plan to buy one of these systems for myself. For those that are interested, I already have a Sony DVP-S360 DVD Player and I am planning to add the Sony KV-32FV26 32" Direct View television and the JVC HR-S3800 Super VHS HiFi VCR.
