Re:Completely FALSE
If you don't believe Stefan Molyneux and folks of his ilk were chiefly upset about TFA because they felt it was feminist propaganda, I'm not sure what to tell you.
Maybe it's a lot of people reacting to this. I can't find the original quote, but this was from some random website:
Now, as you may have heard, Brie Larson recently said she wants to make the movie's press tour a little more inclusive so it's not just middle-aged white guys. In other words, the actress wants more women and people of colour in attendance. But her remarks have been taken out of context, and some fans believe that she's saying she doesn't want them to see the movie.
I remember reading the original quote, thinking it was a bit hostile toward white males. I think the text above waters it down a bit. I'll probably go see Captain Marvel, since it's part of the larger picture, and because I'm not thin skinned. One of the privileges of being a White Cisgendered Male, I guess.

Shells? Where we're going we don't need shells...
There's an app for that.
To be fair, it's not that there are no shells in the future.
It's closer to three shells being not nearly enough for an ass of the future. Poopstagram is the next big thing... you'll see.As for the movie... depends who you ask.
I have no idea why would anyone ask Stallone, being that his character explicitly doesn't know how to use them, but people did ask. The answer was... what could have been expected.Bullock showed a bit more of intuitive understanding and imagination.
But if you ask the guy who wrote it... it's all just bullshit.

Re:Origin story has nothing to do with it.
I think Ryan did an "ok" job at depicting both aspects: both cruising @ 30k feet and cruising for chicks.
And by the end of the film, he starts to "mellow out" to be the more mellow-risk-taker persona he is sometimes shown as having.
Problem is... he kinda missed the mark. Even the one he set for himself.
Hal Jordan is not supposed to be "risk taker" for the sake of taking risks.
He's supposed to be Chuck Yeager who gets a magic ring. Kinda like this, only with Abin Sur giving him the ring in the end.And I don't know if someone told him to say it or if he really figured it out by himself - but Reynolds knew that.
From the moment I came aboard, I saw the challenge and opportunity in creating a classic yet modern day hero who can throw a punch, tell a joke, and kiss the girl. I saw the guy as a cross between Chuck Yeager and Han Solo.
What he gave for the camera though, was neither.
Also, they totally missed the opportunity to play the whole power of the will, mind over matter angle.
Instead of going for the lame version of hero's journey and making it all about "being chosen". -
Re:-3.14 Reference Snobs
I'm not going to be the one that says a little girl was hot.
:)Ok, when the first movie came out that she was in, she vaguely age appropriate for me. I liked the darkness of her character, even if she was 11. Now, saying it about her in that movie would make me a pervert. Funny how society works. The same could be said for Lydia Deetz, or Queen Amidala.

Please do the Silver Surfer!
I really like the Silver Surfer story (even though it's a bit pacifist for these ages but that's good right?) Anyhow this news from 2003 gives that the movie in production after the Fantastic Four should be the Silver Surfer. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/news/articles/932.a

Re:Not too interested..
The Preacher movie is supposed to be in production this fall. Early reviews of the script were not good. The big question is whether they'll make it PG-13 or not. If they do, at least you'll know right away how badly it will suck.
