  1. Apple's bendable iPhone6 was ahead of it's time yet again. At least it didn't break the screen.

Actually, it did. I know, because I had an iPhone 6 Plus. Thankfully, I was able to bend the screen back & get it working long enough to get the full trade in value for an iPhone 7 Plus.

At this point, you cannot even buy a full AAA game outright on launch-day. You are instead offered a framework of minimal features, and are expected to pay again a few more times for 'expansions' and 'DLC', which are just code for 'the rest of the game'. Let's not forget loot-boxes, micro-transactions, GB scale day 1 updates, data harvesting stores, always online requirements, and the death of the second-hand market.

That's why I always wait a couple of years before getting the new console. There's usually a good price drop & then you can get the GOTY versions with all the DLC for half the price. I don't do online because there's too many spazzes that play.

Yeah, yeah, I know if I really cared that much I'd go get an HTC Vive

A friend of my son was over visiting & tried out my PSVR, and he said that it was better than his HTC Vive, especially the motion tracking. Also, I got mine for $200 on sale at Walmart including Gran Turismo Sport VR. Only down side is I don't have two PS Move controllers to take full advantage of it. I have an old PS Move set that has only one wand & one hand controller.

  11. Last month, Democrats introduced a simple three page bill that would do one thing: restore FCC net neutrality rules and the agency's authority over ISPs, both stripped away by a hugely-controversial decision by the agency in late 2017. Tuesday morning, the Save the Internet Act passed through a key House committee vote and markup session -- despite some last-minute efforts by big telecom to weaken the bill.

Serious questions. What has been the overall impact since late 2017 when the FCC removed the rules? Are websites now inaccessible that once were accessible? Have upload & download speeds been reduced? Have costs skyrocketed? Is there any noticeable change that anyone can point to?

  13. LED All the Way on Trump Administration Dims Rule On Energy Efficient Lightbulbs (npr.org) · · Score: 4, Interesting

I've converted nearly all my house to LED, including most of the decorative lights. They look a bit tacky when they're not turned on, but you can't really tell the difference when they're turned on. I bought a whole boatload of LED lights from Walmart when they were like something like $2 for a 4 pack of 60 watt equivalents, and replaced every normal light in my home. The net result so far is to lower my energy bill from $121 to $104 a month.

CFL light bulbs sucked in every way imaginable. Not only were they bad for outdoor use (slow to light up), I never had one that lived up to its supposed 7 year lifespan. Then you had to package them up and bring them to a store to dispose of them. I wonder how many of those are lying busted in landfills across the country, leaking mercury into the water table?

That's actually the one I'm most interested in. I do most of my gaming on the phone these days, because I can usually only squeeze in 15-20 minutes a day, and I seldom play multiplayer. If you don't play that much, you're just getting smoked all the time. I also hate the pay-to-win approach of a lot of games.

  17. Making the headphones wireless did not because you are still carrying both the phone, and the headphones, in close proximity to reach other. I'm all for wireless technologies. But only where wired technologies don't do the same job better.

I greatly prefer wireless, especially in case I'm doing any outdoor activities, such as mowing the lawn or walking my dogs. Wired headphone cords tend to get snagged up way to easily on branches you walk by, violently jerking the headphones off of your head.

  18. I take that back. Just went to cnn.com, one of the worst offenders, and their videos auto-played with volume on. That's a disappointment.

It's still an improvement, so I'll take it.
