Re:A good example
www.dashpc.com is another example. It's a commercial product but I'm releasing the schematics, board layout files, Gerber files, etc. to the open source community.
I may lose a couple of sales to DIYers, but I think it's good karma to give back to the community that has given me so much. -
DashPC?
Whither DashPC?

DashPC is the intersection of cars and computers
DashPC is [one of] the intersection(s) of the car and computer tech.
The DashPC is an open-source vehicle human-machine interface. It has OBDII vehicle interfacing, mp3s, gps, dvd, cds, xm, radio, etc. etc. etc.

This is obviously for a vehicle application...
I can't think of many other sources that use CANbus for data transfer. I think your best bet is going to be VGA distribution (assuming that you're trying to send the same signal to multiple sources). We did this a few years ago as part of the dashpc project. It's nothing new.
However, if you're trying to multiplex a VGA signal, you're on your own - I don't think there's a definitive method of doing that (yet).
Please note that I'm assuming that my understanding of your question is clear. If not, please feel free to elaborate.

Car-based PCs
This site is all about car-mounted PCs. I'm pretty sure it's the same guy that sells this DC/DC power supply.
