Unavailable tax software???Say hello to WINE.
I did my taxes this year with Quicktax under WINE. To my surprise and delight, everything just worked. Kudos to the sidenet-wine-config people -- this tool downloads and installs several key bits of software from Microsoft that many windows apps expect (such as IE).

Re:Site doesn't like Linux/Mozilla
Can play it under linux
:D
Install wine (winehq.org)
Install ie6 with tool from http://sidenet.ddo.jp/winetips/config.html
(Possibly install dcom98. Not sure if its essential or not.)
Start ie.
Change security settings (Internet Options -> Security) to allow installation of unsigned activex controls
Go to the site http://video.vividas.com/CDN1/3929_Serenity/web/in dex.html
You'll get a dialog telling you to install a jre. Cancel.
Say yes to installation and execution of anything activex related.
Click on Dial up.
Watch the movie in its window.
The fullscreen options (low, med, high) give me an error about unavailable display modes. I'd love to know if it is possible to get this playing the higher res versions in a window, but my javascript/webdev fu is weak. http://video.vividas.com/CDN1/3929_Serenity/web/pl ayer_script.inc would be the place to look - playPressed() would be the function. Getting it called as playPressed('http://video.vividas.com/CDN1/3929_Se renity/viv/3929_Serenity_720.viv',true) would do the trick (2nd arg inidicates whether to play in a window or not.
(Alternatively, a patch for wine that sorts out the screen mode problem would possibly do the trick). -
Re:WPA vs. WEP
"How do I put IE on linux using WINE?"
I'be been wondering about that for some time now.
Use this. -
Re:blah
Funny, I'm guessing you didn't try the wine-config-sidenet package... a whoping 3 minutes to automatically install ie6 under wine.

Win2k vs Linux?
Its no stretch to say that the only win2k installs left out there are being used either on servers (why are you using a browser on a server??? Or even better yet, why are you using Windoze on a server???
:)
The other group (ans these are the ones Im talking about) are those that for one reason or another belive that win2k is the best Windoze OS (better than XP, better than 2003)...most of these will state stability as their reason for using win2k...others will say that XP has too much bloat and/or eye candy. What M$ is banking on is that these users will switch to a new version of Windoze (XP or 2003)...but what is keeping these users from switching to a Linux distro?
It pretty safe to say that the majority of these users will be looking for office support and not exactly games support...if the argument is that Lotus Notes doesnt work or I need M$ Office, you can always buy a copy of Crossover Office for $40.00...much cheaper than even an upgrade to XP/2003.
And for most Windoze apps, you dont even need to purchase Crossover Office...all you need is a script like This one.
They have played this move before, but this time it could come back to bite them. -
Re:I just switched her
Take a look at this:
http://sidenet.ddo.jp/winetips/config.html
It gets IE, media player 7, ect. running under WINE.
You need to get DCOM98 somehow though. I actually do have an ancient windows98 CD, so it worked well. -
we need a getexplorer.com .. or something
Help fight these horrible new statistics... Install IE today!

Re:Wrong Games
It might not be relevent to your situation anymore, but for anyone else who's had bad luck with wine, Sidenet might help after wine's installed. It sets up the config file for some of the more tricky installs beforehand, installs some stuff from reactos, manages menus, and some other nice tricks. Though, on the other hand, I've never understood how people can have such different results from wine. I hear about people all the time not being able to run anything but notepad, but I've always had pretty good results from wine, even years back. Heck, my girlfriend, hardly a techy by any means, installed and uses photoshop with a vanilla build of wine. Are some of the major distros severly messing up wine when packaging or something?

Re:Microsoft Installer
They're working on support for Microsoft Installer
Meanwhile, you could try using Microsoft's Microsoft Installer. I'm not sure how well it will work without a good WINE configuration setup, or maybe the newly resurrected Winetools -
Michael Jackson touched my penis
By the way, I went to the report of the Nozomi Tsuji and Ai Kago. Nozomi was already ready to go, I thought she is nice as matter of fact I am a fan of her. But I didn't tell anybody that because it was the secret of my heart. Therefore, I took the picture of her with activity. While I was taking her, I thought she is coming out, gatta be major. At that time, I found she injured her leg. She said " when I went skiing I fell down".
