Re:Why not just one ultra wide display
If you have 2 monitors, it's hard to display 3 things side by side (Firefox , IE, and Chrome for instance).
Maybe these people can help you: http://www.digitaltigers.com/zenview-arenaelitexl.asp

Laptop??
A self-respecting president would have something a bit more functional than a laptop on his desk. It should also get sucked up into the oval office ceiling at a touch of a button.

I'd rather have an arena display
eg. http://digitaltigers.com/zenview-arena-ultrahd.shtml
...not sure what graphics card I'd need though. -

Big screens....
How about one of these?

Droolworthy peripherals
Monitor: GVS Panoramic quintuple display. 5x 20", 9600x1200 resolution, or
Zenview Arena, 6 screens, one 2560x1600 and five 1600x1200
Input: 3D motion controller 3DConnexion SpacePilot -
Triple-Monitor Heaven
All single-monitor setups are for dweebs! I have a single 19" panel at work, and three 20" (1600x1200) Panels at home (soon to be my place of work): "trio20x" I have 5.7 million pixels ever before me, and yes, the productivity boost is worth it. The only disappointment is that my fish screen saver will only work on one monitor at a time.
:-(
Other interesting monstrocities from the same company:
"trio-ultraHD"
"powerscape-ultraHD"

Re:why not dual or triple displays?
Dual screens is nice, but six screens is better.

Use your display at an angle?!
So connect three computers to the LCD and from the center you see Windows, Linux from the left and MacOS from the right.
Yeah, because we'd all like to use our computers like if we were watching the screen of the computer next to us.
Besides, I think everyone would prefer to have huge display for a single computer rather than three computer with a single display. And with an intel Mac, you already can run OS X, Linux and Windows on the same computer.
I can imagine that some people might be able to come up with real good uses for such a display (ATMs, etc) but for the desktop I don't see the point. -
on a related note
i used to have real estate envy, and car envy
now i suffer from multiple monitor envy
scroll down to the 8 screen, zenview and arena displays, and let your mouth hang open, watering
hmmm, maybe i should rob a bank... -
Re:3 monitors
It's lame

Re:Tigervista have been doing this for years.
Their TigerVista Manager software seems to be a rebranded version of UltraMon, a great utility for managing multiple monitors.
-
Tigervista have been doing this for years.
Digital Tigers have been making multi LCD monitors like these for years. They offer 2, 3, 4 or 6 screens on a single stand
The best option to my eyes is the Tigervista Power Trio, one large LCD flanked by two smaller ones mounted portrait. This neatly gets around the problem of having a 'seam' down the middle of your eyeline where the screens join.
Oh and before the accusations fly I don't work for the company, but I have been lusting after one of their screen setups for a while now.
Of course you do need an extra graphics card to power the third screen, and the screens are by no means cheap.

Better Monitors than Go-L and actually legit...
Check out Digital Tigers, they have a wide range of badass multi-monitor solutions. The most insane of which is the TigerVista Arena Elite.
