Re:Right, so...
In other words, you are still ignoring the fact that global warming is real and has real consequences
No, go back and read what I said. Waste as a whole can be bad for the environment, I've never been for companies releasing anything into the public space. I don't have a problem with us cleaning up our CO2 emissions.
>> Even if CO2 cutbacks are needed and the threat is real, it doesn't change the fact that global warming is being used by leftists as a tool to gain power.
> That is not a "fact", it is your paranoid fantasy, which I am not particularly interested in discussing.
No, it is fact. The "Union of Concerned Scientists" is a prime example:
http://www.discoverthenetwork.org/groupProfile.asp ?grpid=6631
http://scholarwarriortimes.com/index.php?option=co m_content&task=view&id=113&Itemid=58
Geenpeace, the green party, WWF, and the Sierra Club are well known leftist organizations. These groups and their affiliates fund many AGW global warming studies. The left leaning media also hypes them up. Are you denying this? It is quite obvious. -
Who pays the bill?
Here're some of the corporations that own... I mean, that "contribute" to the Union of Concerned Scientists:
"Beldon Fund, the Compton Foundation, the Educational Foundation of America, the J.M. Kaplan Fund, the Scherman Foundation, the Blue Moon Fund, the Ford Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Energy Foundation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Joyce Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, the Turner Foundation, and Pew Charitable Trusts."
For more information on the "unbiased" nature of what these guys do, see its page on Discover The Network. -

Re:Works for meWard Churchill is NOT a nutjob professor. His writing and teaching is widely respected. You may not agree with his views, but that doesn't make him a nutjob. I'm willing to bet that you haven't read ONE of Churchill's many books.
A broken clock is right twice a day. Even if Ward Churchill has written something factual and useful in one instance, that doesn't make the rest of his work golden. Far from it:We have concluded that the allegations of research misconduct, related to plagiarism, misuse of other's work and fabrication, have sufficient merit to warrant further inquiry.
. ...
The Standing Committee also will be asked to inquire into whether Professor Churchill committed research misconduct by misrepresenting himself as an American Indian to gain credibility and authority for his work.
I would think that his public statements alone are enough to discredit him. Regarding the 9/11 suicide attacks on the United States, Ward Churchill wrote:As to those in the World Trade Center: Well, really. Let's get a grip here, shall we? True enough, they were civilians of a sort. But innocent? Gimme a break. They formed a technocratic corps at the very heart of America's global financial empire--the 'mighty engine of profit' to which the military dimension of U.S. policy has always been enslaved--and they did so both willingly and knowingly. If there was a better, more effective, or in fact any other way of visiting some penalty befitting their participation upon the little Eichmanns inhabiting the sterile sanctuary of the twin towers, I'd really be interested in hearing about it."
And who is this "Eichmann" that Ward Churchill compares to the clerks and business men & women killed in the World Trade Center? Follow the link.

That is just the start of a sorry story. Maybe you need to do some additional homework yourself. -
But just who are these groups? While I realize I'm getting here late on the discussion, and my chance of this being seen is slim, this info has to be out there.
The Center for Constitutional Rights - The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) was co-founded in November 1966 by the radical attorneys Morton Stavis, Ben Smith, Arthur Kinoy, and William Kunstler, longtime members of the Communist and radical left. Prior to forming the Center, Kinoy and Kuntsler circulated a lengthy memo calling for the creation of a "new Communist Party," which did not materialize.
Among the most passionate crusades of Kinoy's legal career was his bid to save the lives of the convicted spies Julius and Ethel Rosenberg in 1953. He took similar pride in his heralded 1972 victory when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the government was obliged to obtain a warrant for telephone tapping, even in cases where national security was at stake.
All of this and more was lifted from Discover the Networks, a Guide to the Political Left
The Center for Constitutional Right is actually a center for NO Constitutional rights, just look at all there Comunist propoganda. What scares me is that these people's talking points are "fed" to Al Gore, and other members of the Democrat party.

Re:Why I Love the ACLU
Ok, so while many cheer this; ask yourself this question. Who is it exactly that are bringing forth the lawsuits and why?

CENTER FOR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS
http://www.discoverthenetwork.org/groupProfile.asp ?grpid=6148
leading institution of the "Legal Left"
Founded by pro-Castro radicals
Opposes post 9/11 anti-terrorism laws
"If the U.S. government truly wants its people to be safer and wants terrorist threats to diminish, it must make fundamental changes in its foreign policies . . . particularly its unqualified support for Israel, and its embargo of Iraq, its bombing of Afghanistan, and its actions in Saudi Arabia. [These] continue to anger people throughout the region, and to fertilize the ground where terrorists of the future will take root." - CCR President Michael Ratner
Supports terrorist attorney Lynne Stewart
Named as a key member of the Open Borders Lobby in the pamphlet The Open Borders Lobby and the Nation's Security After 9/11, written by William Hawkins and Erin Anderson

LYNNE STEWART
http://www.discoverthenetwork.org/individualProfil e.asp?indid=861
Self-proclaimed "radical activist attorney"
Represented Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman, who was convicted of masterminding the 1993 World Trade Center bombing
Was arrested for providing material support to Rahman's al Qaeda-connected Islamic Group, an Egypt-based terrorist organization
Considers terrorists "liberationists"
Lynne Stewart is a hero of the National Lawyers Guild and a sought-after campus lecturer. While out on bail under indictment for colluding with a terrorist leader, she has been a sought-after speaker for law school audiences who relish her attacks on Attorney General John Ashcroft as a modern-day fascist and on her country for its imperialist and racist policies.
AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES UNION
http://www.discoverthenetwork.org/groupProfile.asp ?grpid=6145
Co-founder Roger Baldwin stated, "I seek social ownership of property, the abolition of the properties class, and sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal."
Driving force behind the anti-Patriot Act movement
Named as a key member of the Open Borders Lobby in the pamphlet The Open Borders Lobby and the Nation's Security After 9/11, written by William Hawkins and Erin Anderson
Defends Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader and funder Sami Al-Arian
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) characterizes itself as America's "guardian of liberty," ostensibly working to "defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States." "We work," says the ACLU, "also to extend rights to segments of our population that have traditionally been denied their rights, including Native Americans and other people of color; lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgendered people; women; mental-health patients; prisoners; people with disabilities; and the poor."

If you put all politics aside and listen to what these people say they stand for, it's scary.
I think Rachel Meeropol is daughter of ROBERT MEEROPOL who is the son of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, the convicted Soviet spies. -

Re:Why I Love the ACLU
Two facts about the ACLU are beyond dispute:
1. It is a leftist organization
2. It is and anti-American organization
Wait...actually...criterion two is redundant.
So, love them if you must but first realize to whome your affections are devoted: http://discoverthenetwork.org/ -
