Does it use Fullerton's AMAZING WIRELESS TECH ?
Crowding Issues resolved by the AMAZING WIRELESS technology from Larry Fullerton, read this first: http://www.engology.com/eng5fullerton.htm then this http://www.timedomain.com/ This is like nothing you have ever heard of, in that it is ULTRA LOWPOWER, ULTRA WIDE BAND not in the typical sense, UNDETECTABLE, and so super scary that the military has embargoed its FULL use precisely because it is undetectable by conventional frequency scanners... Also please check out http://teaminfinity.com/robo_economy_wire for great news on ROBOTIC FRONT

Story of Kevin Flanagan
The suicide of Kevin Flanagan was briefly mentioned in the article (without name). Here are more details for those interested:
http://www.engology.com/BobFlanagan.htm -
BofA policy causes suicide?
I was surprised that the article didn't mention the Kevin Flanagan case, which involved Bank of America, outsourcing, and this 'train your replacement or no severance' policy.
In 2003, Mr. Flanagan, a programmer for BofA, was told that his job was being outsourced and that he had to train his (Indian) replacement to receive severance. (Some news reports say he was fired after refusing.) He went into the parking lot and shot himself.

Techies see jobs go overseas (graf: "Suicide Blamed on Layoff")
I just closed my bank account with them. I had to do it anyway (moved to an area with no BofA branches within 60 miles) but I made sure to tell the agent the OTHER reason why. They can rot in Hell. -
Re:A perfect world
Bzzzt! Return to Econ 101.
The local economy = everything produced locally. More skilled workers = more produced locally = economy grows.
Yet again,
The shell game, you can get a different job, ad naseum .
How many degrees will you have to get to "keep getting new jobs",
When the old one is "SOLD OUT" .
When does the cost of the new degrees exceed the pay from
restarting your career everytime the "corpocracy" decides to
sell your job to ANYONE who will work for less .
Under this theory, if they can do any job for less, then they
will do ALL jobs for less, and thus their will be no jobs for
workers that are citizens .
Your grandfather or great grandfather may have died for your
country, but that doesn't matter anymore .
Business as usual, the bottom line is to be fed .
Greed wins again .
http://www.engology.com/E-News1375.htm
Now, wihile said deluge certainly won't the devastate local economy, it certainly can devastate those displaced workers foolish enough to cling to the idea they are somehow owed a job in their former industry.
I don't need a job, I own my own company now .
I am not so moronic that I cannot see that total replacement of all citizens by
L1 visa workers living in corporate owned slums sending most of their pay back
to their home country would have a negative impact .
During this time my and other London guest worker's corporate housing was frequently without heat, hot water and electricity.

I do not blame the ppl of other nations for wanting to get money to take care
of their families, but I think they and their country would be better off in the long run
fixing their country rather than picking the low hanging fruit off their neighbor's trees .
Peace,

SeaCode is a REAL company.. But...
First - oddly enough, SeaCode is a REAL CA corporation, and is currently active.
According to the Official California Business Search Online hosted by the CA State Government, SeaCode Inc. was incorporated on August 5, 2004. In fact, you can even get their CA Corporate Number. As mentioned in another post (which I can't locate at the moment), David R. Cook is listed as the "Agent of Service for Process". Question it? Do a search for Google (yes, the company name), and you'll find
Secondly - Does this filing really prove that SeaCode, Inc. really is what it's described as in the few articles floating around the 'Net?
Various other /. posts made after the parent post (Subject: Baloney), speculate whether or not the boat would be located just outside of LA County or San Diego. Again referencing the information from the Online resource, the company's mainland address is in San Diego. So, it's possible that the boat is anchored somewhere between US and Mexican Waters... in International Waters.
Sounds realistic and legit, no? Oh, but read on.
Thirdly - Here's another article on the SeaCode, Inc mystique. Another /. reader posted the quote "I heard it at a party last night here at the Gartner conference, then did a quick interview with them" - this article is the source. And, I agree with that /.-er, how can you trust someone who heard something at a party?
I agree with dpud1234 - if the Forbes article doesn't exist, then how do we know the deal is real? I can't seem to find any WSJ or AP-affiliated news on SeaCode Inc, not to mention a corporate website (anyone have any ideas?). Yahoo, MSN, NYT, nothing turns up.
Finally - It's somewhat inconclusive.
Disclaimer: I'm not an expert in nautical law and barely have a general understanding of how the waters are charted. Heck, I don't quite understand many things. All I am is the over-analyzing citizen who likes to learn more... and is probably taking this one too far. -
hippy flashbacks'... Linus didn't set out to make great riches, and as far as I know he didn't.
...'sounds like your having a bit of a hippy flashback.
- ... His fortunes changed in 1999. Red Hat and VA Linux, both leading purveyors of Linux-based software packages tailored for large enterprises, had granted him stock options with no strings attached, thank-yous from entrepreneurs who hoped to grow rich off his creation. When Red Hat went public that year, Torvalds was suddenly worth $1 million. On the day VA Linux (now VA Software) went public, Torvalds was worth roughly $20 million, though by the time he could sell his shares, they were valued at only a fraction of that.

Re:Geeks with political power
What about carter? He was a bloody nuclear engineer. I did habitat for humanity work in my first stint at college, and seeing the home I built slowly turn into a crack house in a period of 5 years filled me with pride.
