Re:Excellent.
Minor trivia:
If you encode your uploads as Flash video with the previous codec used by YouTube, H.263 compression with less than 350kb/s audio+video bitrate, then they'll pass onto YouTube's servers unmolested. I do this, and my uploads are viewable within a minute or so of uploading, rather than spending several minutes "Processing, please wait".
When I re-downloaded one of my recent videos to examine it (using Super©*), it was still in H.263 format.
Why do this? Less CPU-intensive for older systems (videos of long model trains--which comprise most of my submissions--tend to highlight framerate issues), and it's compatible with my Archos 5-series media device (as well as their TV+ DVR), so I need not produce two versions of the same video.

I did the work for you in 2 minutes.
If you want, I can uncontain the mp3's from the flv files, so that you won't have to reconvert them to mp3 and lose quality.
But I will just tell you use http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html and do a direct stream copy to mp3 for the quickest way to do this.

Re:Arrr 4
This is only insightful if people actually do watch videos on the iPod Nano
:DAnyway I've watched videos on my DS, and if I had some software installed now for easier conversion I would use it much more.
(Yeah, I know about batch-DPG and Super but I have a mac and haven't cared yet.)

Re:HTML 5 video
I don't know but I'd thought whatever codecs was supported by your regular video player to run in the browser as well. I have perian and/or something else installed on my mac and can play most things, so I'd expect everything to work, macs can play H.264 with no additional codecs I believe so no problem there.
http://perian.org/For a Windows machine you can installed something like super player and be done with it:

Try SUPER
I've found SUPER (Simplified Universal Player Encoder and Renderer) quite useful. It's a Windows GUI for several FOSS libraries, including FFmpeg, MEncoder, MPlayer, x264, mppenc and FFmpeg2theora. It even has a clunky-but-usable batch file conversion facility. Home page: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

Re:confused because I've been using this for 8 mon
I use SUPER to do all my transcoding, to be honest I started encoding in DIVX because it is almost as good as XVID and the Tivo Plus app supports it out of the box. It is not very well documented, but TIVO Plus requires that you install quicktime in order to transcode Mpeg4 files.

Download Helper and Super
I know another poster has mentioned Mozilla download helper. This is an add-on that saves most online streaming content by right clicking on a drop down list. You can the reencode (uggh) for your DVD (divx) player using Super. Just drag and drop your flv files to the Super windown and select Avi/Divx as the output type with a bit/frame rate equivalent to Home Theater Profile of DivX. You can also reencode to most mobile devices with Super.

Re:Zune Meme Analysis
There are already YouTube downloader-converters and standalone
.flv converters for the iPod.Windows users can already paste a url into iTube, and it will download YouTube's
.flv files, convert them to .mp4 format, and add them to iTunes, which will then sync those movies to your iPod.Mac users can already paste a url into PodTube, and it will download YouTube's
.flv files, convert them to .mp4 format, and add them to iTunes, which will then sync those movies to your iPod.SUPER is another Windows program that converts
.flv files to .mp4 for iPod.iSquint is another Mac program that converts
.flv files to .mp4 for iPod.Every one of the programs I mentioned are freeware.
