    screw the mideval crap.

    I want to fly around in my own ship and blast at bad guys with the latest tech.

    Eve-online here I come baby.

    They expect to go closed beta this month too!!

    There is also an article over at Game Spy.

    I think the next year is shaping up to turn out some great new MMORPG games.

    Especially considering that, say, Python already has MP libraries. A research paper from UO, another fellow who's trod this path before, several MUD/MOO/MP libraries and games, Merchant Empire, Twisted, Eve, and so on.

    Using Python would allow this fellow to achieve his goal of learning a new language, fast. He can then properly focus on the important things: program structure and gameplay.

    For those of you who can't wait for this to come out try checking out some of these interesting and commendable knock-offs.

    JumpGate: Very cool first person ship flying in a pseudo-realistic physics universe. Three different factions vying for control of the same universe, join one. Fly your ship into combat or trade goods peaceably. You can't own a planet or a space station but the graphics are alright. It's in open-beta and available now @ www.mightygames.com.

    MerchantEmpires.net: A slick web interface leads to a back end written in php and mysql. Almost exactly the same as Tradewars, but with a web interface, this game wasted plenty of my time. Check it out at www.merchantempires.net.

    Eve-Online: Looks very, very ,cool but is in the early alpha stages right now. You won't be able to play it for at least 18 months. The graphics engine looks awesome and you can own ships and spacestations. www.eve-online.com

    Privateer Online: Origin killed this title a while ago but some diehards still think it may be in the works. I wish it was but I think this is not the case. Have fun!

    Just outside the harbour og Akureyri (That is a town in the north of Iceland) divers discovered a hydrothermal vent in June of 1997. In April 1998 they found a second vent which is connected to the other with 50 meter long ridge. The second vent was much larger, ca. 60 meters high (that is approx. 200 feet). And the water coming from it is about 70 degrees centigrade.

    I'm sorry to say that I've found no web page about this for you ppl to read. I found this info in an archive on a local newspaper web Morgunblaðið and an account is needed to view this, and it can only be found through the search page so I have no link to it.
