Re:Horrid writing
Yeah, take a look at this:
https://www.ephemera-inc.com/Can-t-we-give-old-white-men-their-own-little-count-p/1378.htm
That's just plain bigotry, folks.
Isn't it funny how bigotry is a wonderful and proper thing as long as it is the far left that espouses the bigotry and racism?
This is an example of why I consider that left or right is not a ruler, but a circular continuum. Starting out is the middle facing us. As people go left or right, and the further they go left or right, the eventually meet in the back with the same abount ot hatred, racism, and bigotry. They will scream and yell how they are not at all alike, but at the core, they have the same outlook, merely about different groups.

http://feministing.com/2013/01... This little gem was feminists pissed that the OBlama administration was too white!
Stop reading books by White cisgendered men!!!!! https://www.xojane.com/enterta....
CBS is too fucking White!! http://ew.com/article/2014/07/...
Google is going to stop hireing white guys https://www.digitaltrends.com/...
And just when we figured that Hootie and the Blowfish meant that racism was gonna - Nooooooo! Too many white men in bicycling!!! https://www.digitaltrends.com/...
So yeah, while the feminists and their sycophants strut around like they are so inclusive, so tolerant, so benign, they really need a uniform that suits their actual sexism and racism. I would suggest a rainbow tapestry gown and a pointy hood, modeled after their conservative doppelgängers, the Ku Klux Klan.

Re:Summary insufficient, click through the link.
But no, it's pretty obvious that one dongle joke can cause a young lady who had a driving passion to simply drop it, and leave that bin of sexist and harassing male pigs in IT, and go for a job in a clean field like Law or business.
I think you want to look at this a little more statistically.
How odd. You might take a look where sexual harassment cases have been filed - oh those statistics - let us look at them.
apparently 37 percent of sexual harassment claims come from IT
....... NO! they do not!http://www.care2.com/causes/wh... http://feministing.com/2014/10... 37 percent of sexual harassment claims come from the Restaurant industry, which employs 7 percent of American Women. Perhaps the Restaraunt industry only hires off duty IT workers, who feel the need to mess with more women, when not at their main job no doubt.
Another statistic
Top 5 Industries with Highest Sexual Harassment Incidents
1. Business, Trade, Banking, and Finance
2. Sales and Marketing
3. Hospitality
4. Civil Service
5. Education, Lecturing, and Teaching
http://brandongaille.com/23-st...
Note there is some discrepancy there - I do not see Restaurants in that list.
I am inclined to accept the numbers however, because that are feminist and'or other anti harassment pages.
Now of course, just because IT doesn't make that list doesn't mean we are all white knights - that would be naive.
But the frequency with which men in IT are portrayed as testosterone fueld monsters, just ready to grope or demean women, and the increasingly lame examples used to "prove" our evil ways has gone goofy. And yes, being offended at Lena Söderberg's face, or even her body is ridiculous. We will touch on more of the sex negative business in a bit.
The *vast* majority of competent programmers are *not* the incredibly obsessive uber-geeks with a driving passion.
As a person who fits your demeaning and oiffensive title, I gotta ask - What gives you the right to call men names? NOt cool man - not cool at all.
They are simply people with reasonable amounts of talent and ability that could comprise the 20-80th percentile of programmers.
I don't get where you are going here. Are you saying that people such as myself should be excluded from the work we do because of our passion for doing it? By the way, your sexist innuendo that people like me are the ones doing the harassing is pretty offensive as well. I actually was very careful about my interactions with women until I undersood what they might find offensive. Because not all women are sex negative. A few of the women I worked with had downright filthy minds.
They are people who probably have a wide variety of job choices and for whom job environment is as important as the actual job task.
And yes, seeing the sort of juvenile antics that are utterly inappropriate to any modern workplace *is* going to discourage them.
I see you ascribe to the weak woman model. The person who cannot handle any negativity, and uses it as a reason fo failure, The very strange thing is people like my wife find that idea very offensive. I find that offensive.
In fact, it *has* discouraged a lot of women from entering the field. And again, sure, there are some who *can* survive that culture, but there's absolutely no reason they should *have* to do so.
Tell me though - Why do we not hear about

Re:OPT OUT
Try being a rape survivor with PTSD triggers on non-consensual groping. Try having a colostomy or other embarrassing medical device of your choice. Try being a transgendered person forced to risk being outed to some random TSA chimp to travel. The epsilon-minus Wal-Mart rejects they hire are not exactly the sort of people who can be relied on to handle such situations discreetly and respectfully.
Moreover, even for someone who has no such special vulnerability, this sort of treatment is simply unacceptable. You may not have a problem with it - hell, you probably like it and wish they'd shove that jackboot up your ass just that much harder - but the notion that one should be expected to be okay with having the government inspect one's genitals is simply obscene. Make no mistake, this is a rape, and it's about the same thing most other rapes are: the assertion of power so absolute as to abrogate the victims' control over even the most intimate parts of their own bodies. This is the forcible reduction of free persons to 'bare life', as Agamben would put it. This is a seed, and thanks to people like you willing to accept and defend it, it has taken root and become almost impossible to challenge, and now we wait in fear of the next step. When fully matured, this is O'Brian saying to Winston Smith, "If you are a man, Winston, you are the last man. Your kind is extinct; we are the inheritors. Do you understand that you are alone? You are outside history, you are non-existent."
All in all, I recommend you reconsider your position.

Re:Actually...
Exactly - and some bogus claims just feel too true to be false. For example, there's that idea doing the rounds that the Superbowl leads to a spike in domestic violence. It's just not true - the Washingdon Post even managed to track down where the falsehood originated, and there's a very informative Snopes entry on the topic. Yet it lives on and on and on because it feels right somehow - the Superbowl is a very violent, aggressive, and above all male event. Some proponents even suggest that anyone challenging the myth must have dubious motivations.
(There are peaks in domestic violence at Christmas and Thanksgiving, but they get less attention, possibly because that'd involve trampling on everyone's celebrations and not just a mostly-male event. There's also a small but statistically significant link between a team winning a game and domestic violence by their supporters, but that gets even less attention because it can't be used to get people's attention in the same way.)

Re:I'm tired of this "degrading toward women" crap
Quite right. It apparently doesn't go far enough for feminists (and that's not one of the strongly anti-porn sites, not by a long shot).

Re:I'm tired of this "degrading toward women" crap
Ah, you must be one of the evil funfems who are destroying the feminist movement. Pleased to meet you!
(If you don't get the reference, try reading some radical feminist blogs or listening to them. Alternatively, don't - they're nuts. Dangerous, religious fundamentalist class nuts, but still nuts.)
More seriously, though, have you been paying attention? You seem to have missed how male masturbation aids supposedly objectify women by turning their genitals into an object for male use.
IIRC, there's not much objection to actual male masturbation - so long as you're not looking at images of women when doing it (or even thinking about images of women). Which is quite a big "but"...
[ Also, the Feministing commentary on this Apple ban my be interesting - and bear in mind that Feministing is a really relaxed, beginner-level site that's fairly sex positive and is often criticised for not taking things seriously enough... ]

Re:Like what?
Excellent! Where can we find those?
How about the Internet? Start with the "Male Privilege Checklist": http://www.amptoons.com/blog/archives/2004/09/15/t he-male-privilege-checklist/
Then start reading in the feminist blogosphere, two decent entry points into it are http://pandagon.blogsome.com/ and http://feministing.com/ .
Then begin looking up "white privilege" and "anti-racism", since the strategies are nearly identical between both problem domains. Google for the excellent essay "Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack", normally at http://seamonkey.ed.asu.edu/~mcisaac/emc598ge/Unpa cking.html , but tonight the server is down so try this instead: http://justworld.typepad.com/perspectives/2005/11/ peggy_mcintoshs.html .
After some time it might start making sense.
