Re:Hmmm
Don't forget 386to486.exe while you're at it.
I had to google for it, dropping the .exe part, but found that littel jewel here. In spite of what you said, it seems to work. I installed it on my P4 2.4ghz laptop, ran it, and now my laptop runs as fast as a 486dx/66, just as advertised. -
Re:A long time ago...
Download it today turn your 386 to a 486 !
486 owner ? then get that chip performance you cannot afford
[at your own risk of course] -
Re:A long time ago...You can still download 386to486....

Re:well I don't know about you..
There are several open source versions of Doom you can use, I believe Boom was the one closest to the original EXE (But I may be wrong).
Legacy Doom has some good, but not perfect, compatibility with older wads. And theres of course the jDoom/Doomsday Engine, which has made the original Doom a great experience.
Aliens TC can be get here. -
Re:Don't Forget Message Networks and STACKER!
And don't forget Stacker !
I remember trying to fit all that FIDO mail on a 20MB Seagate RLL Harddrive. Remember when harddrive used to cost $800? Imagine the BBS you could run if could magically transport a modern system back in time. The storage and speed would be insane!
I used to run the T.A.G. BBS, and I even wrote some door programs in Borland Turbo Pascal. Remember the automagic file detecting ZMODEM upload door? That was mine :)
