Re:Common sense
I think that the problem isn't big companies versus small companies or big companies versus personal homepages. I think the question we should be asking is: why that person is using a domain called 'iTunes'? He does not mention this word anywhere and as far as I know, the 'iTunes' word is not part of his business. I'm guessing, but I'll bet that most of the people that access "itunes.co.uk" were trying to see Apple's ITunes content, not be redirected to quickquid.com.
Again, I'm not saying Apple or anyone should take the domain by brute force or any other means for that matter, he registered first and he has the right to keep it.
What I'm saying is, I think it would be better if a site called itunes.co.uk had iTunes related content, so maybe would be better if he did some settlement with Apple and put an warning like "If you are looking for quickquid.com please click here", as it's done in the firefox link, even though the browser from mozilla was created a lot later than Kevin Karpenske registered the domain. -
Here's the obligatory solution.
Installing this program will take care of your spyware problems.

Re:Nothing is Anonymous
Remember hotmail can ( and does ) track the IP address used to setup and access the email account. IP tracks back to your ISP, which ( again, its been shown due to the RIAA suits ) can be tracked back to the user..

Firefox.com
I can't believe noone mentioned Kevin Karpenske who kindly donated the firefox.com domain to the mozilla guys.
Kudos to Kevin for demonstrating a great deal of kindness in supporting our favourite browser.. -
Domain names...Bummer that firefox.com, firefox.org and firefox.net are already taken! Furthermore, Google already knows 76700 instances of firefox. Should we expect yet another name by version
.9??The logo is nice though. Can't wait to give it a try.

How creativeIf you rename something to prevent confusion with other products don't you think you should avoid something that is already a
- Book series
- Wire mesh manufacturer
- Movie with Clint Eastwood
- Atari game
- Web design company specializing in horses
- A game controller
- A safety technology company
- An all-girl hard rockin' poppin' pounding band from Tacoma, Washingto
- A model airplane
- A slashdot user who posted twice in 1999
The good things about the name:
- It doesn't sound like another similar product (eg Lindows)
- It doesn't have the name of the OS it was originally designed to run on in it. (eg WinZip)
- It doesn't have the name of the programming language used to create it in it (eg JavaInvaders)
- It is unlikely to cause confusion with another software product (except maybe the video game), unlike Firebird.
- It doesn't use a famous trademark (at least they didn't name it Nike)
I've said this in the past, and I will say it again. If you are naming your open source software, make it something unique. Why would you want to compete for search terms with all these other people, products, corporations, and organizations. If your product has merit, then people will recognize the name that you give it and you will get brand loyalty. There is no need show your similarity to other products or your system requirements in your name.
