Humans didn't ride dinosaurs...Jesus did.
Clearly it was only the Son of God who rode dinosaurs: http://freethinker.co.uk/images/uploads/2010/09/300x412xjesus-riding-a-dinosaur-tattoo.jpg.pagespeed.ic.w9AV_5-nYU.jpg

Re:Atheism Theory vs Atheism Application...
If you don't have a belief in god(s), you're just as atheist as I am. Atheism and agnosticism aren't two incompatible positions, they're in two different axis. (A)gnosticism refers to the knowledge, while (A)theism refers to the belief.
http://freethinker.co.uk/2009/09/25/8419/
Personally, I think the only really rational position is Ignosticism, but I'm an agnostic atheist for any definitions of god(s) I've been exposed to.

Re:Distinguishing conflict from disagreement
You need to learn what atheism and agnosticism actually mean: http://freethinker.co.uk/2009/09/25/8419/
In summary: Atheism is the lack of a current positive belief in god. It is not a positive claim that no gods exist. If I ask you "do you believe god exists?" and you say "no," you're an theist. This not the same thing as asking "do you believe no gods exist?", although someone answering no to that question would also be an atheist, albeit possibly one with a less well-supported position).
Atheism is not a philosophy. Rational empiricism is a philosophy, atheism is (one) conclusion of that philosophy. (I am aware that there is a community that is generally labelled as atheism, and that's a great thing, but that's clearly not what you were talking about.)
You would be wise to stop insulting atheists (both since you are one, and since your reasons for insulting them are bogus), and stop spreading untrue statements yourself.

Re:Until you can prove them wrong
The agnostic point of view means that it's OK to say you don't know.
The atheistic point of view means you know there isn't a God.
No it doesn't. I am an atheist. I am also an agnostic. These two things are not mutually exclusive.

Re:Baloney
Most dictionaries have two. Personally, I think the dictionaries are a crappy way to define those words.
I prefer the definitions used here (which most atheist communities share, AFAIK), under which I'm an agnostic atheist.

Re:Hey wait a sec
You're a gnostic atheist. I, who don't believe in the non-existance of god(s), am a agnostic atheist.
Here's a nice diagram and explanation: http://freethinker.co.uk/2009/09/25/8419/

Re:New technology, old mindsets
As I have to repeat in each religious thread, they're orthogonal: http://freethinker.co.uk/2009/09/25/8419/
Me, and most atheists are in fact agnostic atheists.

Re:I have to agree
Agnostic and atheist are not incompatible. See http://freethinker.co.uk/2009/09/25/8419/

Re:What was the point of this exercise?

Re:Stupid
Western world: "I may disagree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
Islamic world: "Die for insulting our moon god!"Christian world: "Die for insulting our sky god!"
"When Mighty Mouse falls victim of cocaine, the Devil's talcum powder, when directors with Mafia-sounding names make films about Jesus hanging out with whores just a stone's throw from that wholesome Universal Studios family tour, it is time for action. Unfortunately, conventional protests such as picketing and telephoned bomb threats do not seem to be working" Episcopal Bishop Paul Moore, New York
“Neither the label ‘fiction’ nor the First Amendment gives Universal the right to libel, slander and ridicule the most central figure in world history.” - Jerry Falwell
"Following the boycott and protests against The Last Temptation of Christ, no Hollywood movie studio has seriously considered making a film that challenges the gospel story of Jesus." - The Long Term Effects on Censorship as a Result of the Protest Against the Last Temptation of Christ
Does this kind of thing still happen in the Christian world? Hmm... Playboy in Portugal shut down for its ‘blasphemous’ Jesus photoshoot

Re:There are a lot of problems with this book
I wonder what people meant when they answered atheist or agnostic. These two terms describe two very different things: the former deals with the belief in the existence or nonexistence of deities, while the latter deals with claiming to have knowledge about the existence or nonexistence of deities. This page really puts things in perspective.
I would say most people who call themselves atheists fall in the agnostic atheist camp: they do not believe in gods, but don't claim to know they do not exist, just as almost no one (hopefully) believes in a teapot orbiting the sun, although it is impossible to prove it's nonexistence.
According to the story posted in beliefnet.com, these are the statistics regarding the religious beliefs of scientists who answered the survey:
- Atheist: 34%
- Agnostic: 30%
- Having no doubt about god's existence: 9%
- Having some belief in god: 27%
---
Sum is 100%.I wonder, if the questions asked clearly mentioned the four combinations of (a)theism and (a)gnosticism, would the results come close to this:
- Gnostic atheist : 34% - 04% \ split the 64% how you see fit
- Agnostic atheist: 30% - 60% /
- Agnostic theist: 27%
- Gnostic theist: 9%
