    You might get lucky, there are great OSX versions of Q1/QW/Q2 made by http://www.fruitz-of-dojo.de/ Those guys might not see the need to port it since there's already a version of it out there, but you never know.

    Yes. The Quake II source contain makefiles for Windows (Visual c++ project), GNU/Linux, Solaris, Irix and the abandoned Rhapsody. Fruitz of dojo has ported the game to os x.

    You are supposed to buy the game, or use your old copy to make use of the sourcecode. Another option is to create your own content.

    Nope, they ported Quake *3* to MacOS X. Quake 2 was ported by these guys.

    Quit whining. It turns out that a G3 at 700 Mhz is plenty enough to run OSX. If you're planning on playing games -- maybe not (if they're hardcore 3D, anyway).

    Quake and Quake II (see Fruits of Dojo for a port to OSX) run just fine under OSX. Unreal and Unreal Tournament run just fine under OS9. Starcraft runs great on both.

    I'll agree about its disk speed. Its developers tools are kick-arse, and are fairly easy to learn. I'm still trying to leard ObjC.

    Oh, my computer is a 2001 iBook Combo/600mhz.
