Re:I need to register...
Ooops.
That should read
wipo.really.fuckingsucks.net
There used to be more, but Laurence Godfrey got pissed at my site and threatened to sue, call the FBI, etc.
Well the FBI called, and I was forced by them to take down half of the content.
Append the url with old_index.php3 and you can see the origial content. I submitted the story to Slashdot under YRO but it was rejected as usual. I have a very funny log of emails from Prof. G. -
important dataIn many countries, everything is dubbed. In many countries everything is subtitled. Duh. Some people here seem to think that Americans will only go for a dubbed movie and that subtitles put them off. This is bunk. The first major motion picture in many many many years to be dubbed for American audiences was 'Life is Beautiful' AFTER it had already made a gajillion dollars in its subtitled release. It flopped. Go to your video store and find a dubbed foreign movie. Aside from 'Life is Beautiful', you won't be able to. The only exception is for people who cannot read, ie 'children' not 'rednecks'. Non-english kids' movies are the only class that are ever dubbed in the US and Canada. Ok ok, Anime too but that is a niche and we're talking about major motion pictures; the kind you see in a gigaplex. You will NEVER - mark my words - see Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon dubbed into English. I absolutely guarantee it.
Having said that, I saw the director being interviewed on TV and he said that they use a very strange dialect in the film which the actors had to be TAUGHT and that there may even be CHINESE SUBTITLES for showings in China.

Re:It's not very likely at all.Of course, I'm not competent to use technology myself... so I don't know what I'm talking about. Here's one with the link intact.
(the reason the link was broken was that slash hates linebreaks inside tags. I thought it was just a preview misfeature) -
Re:ICANN Shows its PartialityI don't understand the point of a
.sucks domain, because only one person can register a .sucks domain for each company. It makes more sense, IMO, to provide forums to discuss other sites, where both negative and positive messages are allowed. And there's no need for one company to "own" an official ".sucks" domain. Maybe really.fuckingsucks.net should set up a modified version of slash that lets people post comments in each subdomain.

Re:Looking at the arguments
While you can reduce the overall poisioning of the net that this technique causes by serving images from a non-poisoned host, the fact is that if I run a large proxy server, and a lot of people visit sites using this technique, that site is going to cost me a huge amount of money in forced hardware upgrades, because every session is taking up a host space in my proxy cache. Plus, there's the extra DNS traffic, which isn't much, but overall, location poisoning SUCKSPersonally, I would set up all proxies to deny a site using this technique.
Maybe, it's obvious, maybe it isn't, but Sevenval SUCKS!!!. If there's one thing that the recent Doubleclick nonsense shows, it's that the general public will only stand for getting the shaft on privacy issues for so long. And the location poisoning technique is too obvious, so people will raise a stink.
It's one thing to patent a sucky technique, but since the technique sucks too much to have real commercial value, you can just let this thing die on it's own, sucking for air.

patently foolishSigh. I stopped reading after I saw
"...the devices are modelled exactly on the way the human eye works, based on the work of thousands of previous researchers into how all human eyes function. 'It was remarkably easy to implement,' say the inventors, 'once others laid the groundwork.'
Will it ever stop?
Every aspect of the new devices are completely covered by freshly issued patents, there being no known prior examples of this science. Some novel aspects of these patents cover the many conceivable uses of the new eyes, especially in the area of e-commerce. 'We were blind to the possibilities,' wrote one of the inventors, 'but when we deliver eyeballs to a website, we expect to be compensated. And that's just to buy a book... wait till you try to read it: one-blink to accept the EULA.
Tim was initially skeptical till he saw that the devices will require extensive 'in a nutshell' how-to books and he's already written an encouraging letter...'" -
Re:depoison... and THIS(!)
Hostname information encoding has been done here as well.
;)
This site works with all text I have tried, separated by periods. I don't know how long it's been up, but it has been there for quite a while. -

Re:Possible candidate
And that site also contains the true reason why they shouldn't get this patent...
-
We cannot reason ourselves out of our basic irrationality. All we can do is learn the art of being irrational in a reasonable way. -
Possible candidate
Not session tracking, but a similar idea:
http://type.something.here.real ly.fuckingsucks.net/
(and sorry for the sailor talk).
Replace "type.something.here" with, say, a company name.
