GP2X Surpasses Expectations
Harry Trotter writes "Gameparks GP2X Linux Based Console had a lot to live up to with Some amusing boasts from Gamepark, but it has lived up to its pre-billing rather well with great ports of commercial games and emulators such as Mame, Vice (Commodore 64), NeoGeo CD, Duke Nukem 3D, ScummVM and another 150 more releases so far, all of which can be followed at GP2X News & GP32 Xtreme. The Open Source Development of this console has ensured a following that will keep the console alive for years to come." -
Sega to Release New Dreamcast Bundle?
Craig writes "Is Sega planning to release a new bundle for the supposed commercially dead Dreamcast Console? According to Many Dreamcast sites it will be bundled with a new commercial game and released sometime in February. Engadget has commentary and speculation." From the Engadget site: "... German gaming site Gamefront.de is claiming they're going to be re-releasing the frickin' Dreamcast bundled with Radilgy and some limited edition telephone card or something. But our wish come true from the Ghost of Hackable Consoles Past will probably be Japan-only though, distributed through Sega Direct for ¥10,000 (about $83 US) -- still, could this be the triumphant return of Sega hardware, even if only just nostalgia-gear?" -
The Dreamcast 7 Years Old and Still Marching
Craig writes "The Dreamcast turned 7 only a few days ago but still the amateur developers and fans keep the Dream alive, only a week ago was the final of the DreamOn Coding Competition and today the announcement of a new Commercial Shootemup. The Scene centres around DCEmu with multinational support from French & Spanish sites with the majority of releases stored at Dreamcast Homebrew." -
No Modification PSP TV Adapter
Craig writes "PSP Owners have long been interested in watching the UMD films and playing games on the TV, well now according to a report from Lik Sang they can, the new PSPTV being produced eventually by Gametech will be a no modification addon. From the article: 'The TV Adapter for PSP lets you hook up your PSP to your home television (NTSC and PAL) via Composite or S-Video and Stereo connectors. This adapter requires no modification of your PSP console. This new peripheral takes a completely different approach and clips on top of your PSP screen, with two screws to fit at the back of the handheld (in these two holes you can see on the top of the UMD drive). Some sort of pyramid grows from the base, with a precision lens and mirror system at the top, capturing the image and light, in a similar way a scanner or camera would. It then converts it into a video signal that is sent through video leads going from the adapter to your TV set.'" -

This console is a major step up with Dual 200Mhz cpus and is basically a Portable Linux handheld that can easily do ports like Quake, Doom and Emulators like Mame. Its Open Source SDK gives all amateur and commercial Developers the ablity to release software on a brand new console like the old Amiga/Commodore 64 days.
