Re:PulseAudio works nicely in Fedora 8
why can't a HOWTO post seamlessly turn into a Wiki page while also remaining the top post of the HOWTO thread?
A solution created by a few ubuntuforums.org people was to create there own repository of knowledge from the HOWTO posts. It can be found here. -
Re:Fedora?
Following up, this document also has pertinent information. Looking over it I remembered I had to follow its information on 'loading at boot time' about
/etc/rc.local
It's far from painless (at least as far as finding the right steps) and one would think these steps would be integrated into the lirc packages directly. For whatever reason not, but with a little fiddling you'll get there. -
MS Ergonomic 4000?
How come there is still no support for the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000, as they call it? It's the best "broken" keyboard out there and one of the most comfortable ones I've ever used. Patches have been submitted multiple times, and seem to be maintained... No love for this hardware.
First couple of Google hits:

and

or

or

And no, I don't want to recompile my kernel. -

Here, I keep this site bookmarked at all times:

Lost Labyrinth is my current infatuation... well, that and Escape Velocity Nova (windows version) in Cedega, runs beautifully. -

Speaking from a purely
Support standpoint, we at the ubuntuforums find the support of ATI cards to be very frustrating. Their drivers dont work , and when they do, its spotchy at best.

This is probably the largest complaint we get on the Ubuntu Forums and the UDSF(http://doc.gwos.org/ in the way of graphics cards. I think I even remember being told at one point that ATI is so driven on DirectX development that they likely dont care much about developing Open Source Drivers, or even a decent working Proprietary driver.
There have been a few Petitions to do so
http://www.petitiononline.com/atipet/petition.html
http://www.petitiononline.com/ati3/petition.html
And countless others. The community asks, almost begs, and all ATI does it laugh.
Its sad, really sad.
