Re:Poetic Justice
Sounds like a bit of the old P-p-p-powerbook!

Re:Actually this crack won't help most people..
Someone cracked the XP/2003 private key used to sign product keys. The valid space is actually much smaller than that. You can read about it more here.
The character "-" does not contain any information, so, the MS product key is composed of 25-digit-character. Microsoft only uses "BCDFGHJKMPQRTVWXY2346789" to encode product key, in order to avoid ambiguous characters (e.g. "I" and "1", "0" and "O"). The quantity of information that a product key contain is at most log(s)24^25 ~ 114bits. The decoded result can be divided into 12bit + 31bit + 62bit + 9bit, and we call theses 4 parts 12bit: OS Family, 31bit: Hash, 62bit: Signature, and 9bit: Prefix.
Unless they changed the way that keys work with Vista, they could probably do this exact same crack over again and get the new private key. That would make generating new 'valid' keys instantaneous. The problem is that the space is so big that the chances of a collision between a 'valid' key and one MS actually issues is tiny, and because they know every key they ever issued, they can still tell pretty quickly if you are using a valid key or not.

Zaporozhetz (ugly car in the link)I take strong exception to the declaration of Zaporozhetz ZAZ 968M as one of the worst cars ever.
It had semi-decent reliability and was quite easy (and dirt cheap) to fix. It also had high ground clearance which, combined with its light weight, made it very convenient for use on rough to non-existent roads. Strictly speaking, I should not be talking of these little uglies in the past tense - plenty of them still around.
A brief history of the Zaporozhetz marque can be found here. One of the older Zaporozhetz cars, the ZAZ 965, has a cult following (links here and here).

Re:BSD TITTIES THAT AREN'T CEREN!
Doesn't have an ass to speak of?
WTF???
d00d, do you only like plumpers er sumpin? That ass is kickin'! How wide do they have to be for you to consider them something to speak of? This wide? -
My friends will envy me...
"yeah , I played the (enter any upcoming big release)-game. I got a demo from my friend, I'm so 733T that I play games before they are built... bla bla bla"
In this fastmoving scene like the gamedevelopment todays stuff is allready old ...
So a bunch of kiddies who want to bragg against their friends DL these demo's. Oh and BTW. it's free so why not...
Also as mentioned elsewhere game development cycles seem to take longer now.. how long have we waited on the next release of unreal2003 while their marketingmachine was doing overtime? -
This is great.
Maybe now people like Jacqueline Saburido can have their lives restored to them.
Oh, FP? -
Re:My favorite way to rip....
Whoever mod'd this down to Offtopic doesnt know what they're doing. This is NOT offtopic.
EAC and LAME are the best way to rip and encode mp3s (respectively)
EAC: http://www.ping.be/satcp/eac00.htm Use secure mode when ripping, its slower but you wont get pops, clicks and bleeps.
LAME: http://www.hot.ee/smpman/mp3/
At the moment you should be using at least the LAME 3.89 executable to encode. If you are, use the following command line (EAC -> Compression Options -> External Compression -> Additional command line options):
--r3mix
Yes, that's all, "--r3mix", nothing else. For more information on this, visit http://www.r3mix.net -
In case you didn't know
The LAME dll now has new presets. Get the alpha versions here. Instead of the --r3mix preset, you can now use: --dm-preset standard, --dm-preset xtreme, --dm-preset insane, and --dm-preset metal
Insane is better than xtreme which is better than standard. Of course your MP3's get bigger as you increase quality. The metal preset is best for loud as hell, heavy metal style music. -
CatatoniaMulder and Scully is the first track on Catatonia's second album International Velvet. It also helped, along with Road Rage, to push Catatonia into the spotlight.
Because I'm sure a few people reading this haven't heard of Catatonia, or this song, I've got it hosted (fot a limited time only, no doubt) here, or directly linked here, although that may not work due to the way GeoCities servers stop direct linking.
If you would like any other Catatonia mp3s, feel free to e-mail me. Nothing like assimlating a few more people into raving fans
;)Catatonia are one of my favorite bands, and with the singer Cerys' 'odd' voice can be an aquired taste. Mulder and Scully is far from their best (imho), but is a good sampler.
If you'd like some more info on the band, a good and constantly updated site is here.
To go further offtopic, I'd like to thank the late Napster, because without it I'd never have bought 3 Catatonia albums, a bucketload of their singles, and an EP imported from Japan, and 2 EP's from Amazon.... but Napster robs from artists, right?

Well...
Seeing how security over normal wires is very hard to implement, it's really no surprise that wireless devices are more vulnerable...
I guess the only way to make something like that secure to a satisfactory degree (right now), would be to build a radio-dead building with radio-dead windows, so that only wireless devices within the building can connect... That'd bring security up to current level of wiredevices... Which means that you would have to have physical access to the LAN...
Building something like that has a few advantages for the paranoid, it would also block electronic emanations. I think buildings like that are referred to as TEMPEST buildings... /. has a few articles that touch these subjects. Shielded PC casings. Some TEMPEST docs released. More docs revealed. Scan the EMF spectrum. This is the same docs as above I think.
