IDChip all over again?
Isn't this just a rehash of the ID Chip Spoof from a couple years back? It seems very similar.
Of course, I can't get to the referenced site because it's long since slashdotted... -
Re:Larry's Yatch
Erm, it's the name of a Shinto goddess (of the Underworld)... on the other hand, Ellison wants to create a national ID database, perhaps on an even grander scale than what IBM did in the 1940s. Now with new technology, rather than an ugly tatoo, the New America (under our selected President Bush) can do the Nazis one better with subdermal electronic ID chips.

IDChip.com
I'm sure this has crossed more than few minds: doesn't this "VeriChip" remind you of the IDChip hoax?
Mind you, the nonexistant IDChip was billed as an instrument of convenient, universal commerce--not a tracking device for patient data and missing children... still, it conjures a lot of the same imagery.

Re:HOLY BLACK SHIT!It's been done...Check out the ID Chip!.
Of course, that was a hoax from years ago...Here's the explanation. Funny as hell when it came out, though.

One More: the IDChip hoax
This is one of the best Web-hoaxes I've found (well, so far
;-):
A guy created this fake (and not really real-looking) commercial site selling the "IDChip" which was described (on purpose) a lot like the "sign of the Beast" from Revelation. He got so many e-mails and death-threats from religious fanatics, he had to shut down and reveal the hoax in less than a week. Definitely worths the click to his "letters" section ;-)...
engineers never lie; we just approximate the truth. -
Re:The mark isn't a barcode it is a smart chip
And they are already paying people $250 to have it implanted in your hand!
