Re:That's an interesting statement to make now
Want to see something cool?
Even with your cherry picked data, guess what?

Re: 2018
The data is NOT anonymized. Back when this all started I sent a request to Microsoft to know what kind of data was collected. They needed my Microsoft account name and the name of the computer. They then sent me a breakdown of the data collected. 1.2 million data points for a computer that had all the provided privacy options turned off (meaning disabled in settings). The laptop was simply loaded with windows 10, minimally configured to include things like the Japanese IME, and then left, logged on, unused, for 1 week. It simply sat there. 1.2 million data points collected. Details of the breakdown and conversation with Microsoft on my blog: http://init.sh/

Re:Lo and behold!
If Microsoft is collecting anything
If? 1.2 million datapoints collected from a Windows 10 install with all the privacy settings turned off which had only been online for 6 days: https://init.sh/?p=331

Re:Best part...
Disabling those options doesn't do much either. Microsoft collected 1.2 million points of data from my computer over the course of 6 days. This is with all the privacy options disabled. Details here: http://init.sh/?p=331

M2 is offline
This story must be crazy old because M2 is offline and has been for a while. M1 is available but it's tumbling and nobody's sure when it's going to quit. Complete tutorial on how to do these kinds of decodes, plus normal NOAA APT reception here: http://init.sh/?p=275
Full disclosure. I own init.sh. No ads on the site.

Re:Oh, they're a big company,
How to disable those apps:
This article focuses on Cortana but the end shows other apps to disable as well. Basically not uninstalling them so much as renaming the app folder after killing the process: -
Re:Firewall/Router blocking settings?
There is a list of domains to block in that article.

List of domains to block
Blocking these domains will make your version of Windows 10 "Unconnected". To Microsoft at least.
