Looks like Alien
That head looks a bit like Giger's Alien, I couldn't resist doing a bit of a redesign.
SDR and Papero looks pretty good, but most robot designs out there doesn't appeal to me at all. Maybe they're limited by engineering problems though. Right home robotics seem to be where the home computers were back in the 1970's, ie. expensive kits with no real screens and little use (KIM etc).
One day there might be kits in the local hobbystore containing a bunch of joints you can connect as you like, then the head (software) automatically develops movement patterns etc... -
I like bath-duck yellow!
It's the design that sucks, not the color. I redesigned it.
I think it would be really interesting if someone invented good ball-joint servos with full movement /rotation. Granted, they wouldn't be as strong as hydralics/pneumatics, but it would sure simplify construction a lot and give more freedom to the designer (ie. me, who is too lazy to draw real working joints). Maybe a combo would work. -
Exile, Exile or Exile?
Exile II? Hmmm, are you talking about the topdown RPG Exile? It's new to me, I only knew there was a version of Myst called Exile. Apparently Exile II has a teleportation plot aswell, that might confuse my post further.
The Exile I'm talking about never had a sequel, just a lot of ports. Some fan page:

Two?
Elite 1-3 are pretty much free to download now. Apparently Ian Bell and David Braben had some sort of dispute regarding free distribution of Elite.
I played a lot of Elite II on the amiga. I've tried many times to get into Elite 1 but the inteface and GUI is to cumbersome to me. Is it worth it? I also downloaded Elite 3 (First Encounters) and it was kind of nice with the planet terrain and all, but somehow it didn't appeal to me, maybe it was too bloated.
I would wish to see something more simple and cute, like Spore appears to be. I really like the old elite ships because of the simplicity in design.
Utopia II - K240 (Amiga) was really nice too, speaking of space RTS.
Now I'll pimp my space projects. First out SCII:

Old and incomplete Elite clone, but I like the spaceship designs. Have more unscanned.

DS
For me the DS is more attractive with the stylus. I'd love to see some 'mouse control' games, like RTS or 2D games with 'Soldat' control. There's a serious lack of these kinda games for handhelds.
Most of all, I would like to see a gaming oriented hand-top with a touch screen. I've designed one just for fun, but I don't know how realistic it is (bottom of page): http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/main.php?id=retro -

Re:Some ideas and whining
Ah, yes, Ur-Quan Masters (UQM) was actually the game that introduced me to StarControl II. There's a small forum community alive aswell (Pages of now and forever).
Being a geek, I could not resist starting my own SCII project with ideas for a ... 3rd sequel... if you ignore SC3 http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/main.php?id=sce.
I also managed to miss Exile (gravity/2D/exploration game) back in the day, and only came into contact with it quite recently (C64 version). It's a real gem! Blows most new games out of the water.
I got an Exile project aswell http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/main.php?id=retro
Someone notified me about a game called Cave Story, I can't play it atm. cuz of hardware problems but supposedly it's very neat.
