Last year, everyone talking about the seven year long drought in California. This was due to global warming. Now with even more global warming, California has dams at record levels and one of the largest snow packs on record.

Just because a giant storm system finally hit the upper-west coast doesn't discount global warming. The drought is still in effect for the bottom half of California:

He is definitely guilty of going to a Chinese-government-sponsored Mayor's conference, bringing his actual every-day electronics and not some super-special throw-away ones that will be expected to be bugged, and despite the recent bullshit accord that has got to sound some alarms.

It could get creepy. He has also been accused of using his position on the school board to get little girls into a bathroom where he had video equipment.

They've reversed those policies as they weren't working. And you remember that power crisis California had a few years ago? It came about because it deregulated the power companies, and let them shut down operations for no reason, forcing California to buy power from out of state resources at premium rates.

Wrong..The rolling blackouts came because companies involved in supplying CA with energy were corruptly manipulating the markets. They decreased supply artificially in order to inflate prices causing a shortage that didn't exist. Enron was convicted of purposely flowing pipelines at half capacity claiming they were saving infrastructure costs. The deregulation allowed part of it to happen but it was only because of a partial deregulation that it could happen. Deregulation does not mean failure to enforce laws or carte blanche to defraud an entire state.

As for the leaving California for Texas, quite a few of the businesses are doing that and I'm sure quite a bit of the population is following. It might not be as much as the population replacements but it is happening.

There are also several counties trying to secede from California. I guess the ultimate plan is to form a new state called Jefferson.

For reference, we flew several Global Hawk doing disaster relief missions over the reactor. We also flew over Haiti and California wildfires. However, it doesn't shoot missiles, so OSD will gut the program and let it die an expensive death over the next 2 years.

Well, for the matter you could also have firefighters turn into firestarters for profit, but I believe most firefighters aren't assholes, and these sort are statistical outliers.

First off, this "contest" was not a good idea. From all the things coming out, there appears to be enough fsck ups to make the government proud. IF the station had asked me to put on the "contest", I would have a reasonable time limit for drinking the water in the same size bottles. At the end of the time limit, I would have the bottles counted; the person with the most empty bottles gets the Wii. If the station had done the "contest" this way, we would not be here talking about a senseless tragedy.

Now that the show was suspended, and then cancelled, plus the show's staff canned, the folks who put on this "contest" will have a long to think about their actions and the blood on their hands.
