Opinion on non-military Licenses?
What is your opinion on non-military licenses? (i.e. licenses that are almost FOSS, but prohibit usage for military purposes and thus aren't recognized free software).
I feel like this becomes an issue in recent years, when you look at news like this:
http://arstechnica.com/gadgets...
http://linuxgizmos.com/u-s-mil...
Do you reject those licenses? Or could there even be a GPL-NonMil license at some point? -
Re:It.s not about you.
the best way to do this is to make a basic user account for normal mode, and an administrator account for accessing everything. all the settings for WM can be made so that admin can see everything wile basic user sees only a custom menubar and desktop and can't actually do anything. if their desktop icons are made immutable they won't be able to remove them, and if you find cheap hardware to run it all on they won't be a target anymore except to spammers/con artists.

is a $100 device you could work with and just tell them it's their new pc. since it has a serial port many hardware modems will work, and need no drivers, usb modems may or may not work i don't know...

rasberry pi?
It depends if the box is just for compiling or also for testing.
If it's just for compiling then you can get some supercheap desktop pcs these days.
If you also want a development board to do some testing then linux gizmos is a good source of information

It generally renders a URI like http://archive.linuxgizmos.com/2008/ (for 2008), for example.

How much VRAM? GPU specs?
The picture shows it supports OpenGL ES 2.0 but how much video RAM do the various models have?
http://files.linuxgizmos.com/freescale-imx6q.jpgAnyone have any specs on the GPU such as texture fill rate, bandwidth, etc?
Aside, while the Arduino has a RTC (Real-Time Clock) the Raspberry Pi doesn't. At least this i.MX does.

Re:How much RAM?
The article http://linuxgizmos.com/tiny-cubic-mini-pc-runs-android-and-linux-on-freescale-arm-cpu/ states there are 4 models with RAM ranging from 512 Meg up to 2 Gig.

Quinstreet lost LinuxDevices archive ..
"Despite any recent updates, the vast LinuxDevices news archive continued to serve as a valuable archive of embedded Linux information, history, and memorabilia; but earlier this week, the plug was pulled and LinuxDevices disappeared from the Web"
Quinstreet could restore a lot of goodwill by donating the LinuxDevices news archive to linuxgizmos.com
