Re:Laser ADs on the moon
If that happens I'll support a strategic NUCLEAR strike on the laser facility!
What, no volunteering to take the controls of 'Old Dog Zero One'...?

Re:The Super Force TV Show
Hey, I remember this show; thanks for the flashback.
I should note that this area of technology is explored in Dale Brown's novels, beginning with 'Tin Man'. In terms of form factor, this suit is quite close to what Stone had in that show. Closer to the 'Starship Troopers' suits would be the CIDs (Cybernetic Infantry Devices) which are the signature unit of Task Force Talon in 'Act of War' - and yes, this is related to the RTS titled Act of War: Direct Action. Intereatingly, they are referred to in said game as SHIELD units (the expansion of that acronym escapes me at present, but I know it has nothing to do with a certain Fury). -
Thanks, Mr. Brown...
I'm reminded of the NIRTSATs (Need It Right This Second Satellites) which were introduced to Dale Brown's principal fictional universe in 'Sky Masters'... all they'd need to add is a means for quick aerial launch and there you go.
One more thing: read through the abovecited book and you'll see an interesting emergency use for the things... -
Which makes me wonder...
...as to the viability of the plasma-yield weapons described in Dale Brown's novel 'Battle Born' {official site; Amazon.com entry). Basically, these weapons consume everything within a hard radius of ground zero with pretty much no blast/overpressure effects, and negligible residual radiation.
Even better, in 'Wings of Fire' (Amazon.com entry) the same effect is harnessed to pump a ten-million-wall airborne laser... -
What about "Flight of the Old Dog"?
I cant beleive that nobody has mentioned Dale Brown's excellent book from a few years ago, "Flight of the Old Dog", about a re-worked and updated B-52, called the "Megafortress". Basically, they turned a B-52 into one HUGE *stealth bomber*, with updated electronics, weapons, carbon fiber wings, etc. A great book, and worth checking out, as well as the sequels.

Scary?
Really now, I fail to see how this can possibly be scary... in fact, I think it rather cool, and hope it's undergoing 'black' development in Dreamland or wherever. Personally, I like to believe that the actual state-of-the-art is at least a half-generation ahead of what is officially claimed as such.
What might be somewhat scary, on the other hand, is the plasma-yield warhead described in Dale Brown's novel 'Battle Born'. Imagine, if you will, a weapon that basically vaporizes everything within a fixed radius, with no overpressure and very little heat or radiation, along with a lot less sound than you might thing. I command reference to his website for details.
