It's been pretty wet since 1600. But it was pretty dry before that.
Humans don't really think on a time scale of 500 year cycles. You can have an entire civilization rise and fall during a 500 year period.

US Obesity
In the 90s, McDonald's started the "Super Size" program, where you could get tons of extra food for a small extra price. Every other restaurant started following, and soon the portions were massive everywhere you went. A typical restaurant meal is 1000 calories, without dessert. Look at this example.
A decade later, we have an obesity epidemic. Is there really a need for an explanation? -
Re:Too Much
"I think that 6 or maybe even 12 months severance should suffice in this situation. The guy actually got paid for 9 months to do his job so it sounds to me like there was a job, it just didn't last as long as the guy had hoped it would."
I agree. I've had jobs where they've hired everyone for a project and suddenly they cancelled the project less than a year later, should we have all received a few million? Hiring and firing is part of business, if you can't fire someone anymore because it's going to cost 2 million dollars then that'll hurt everyone.
Guess the moral of the story is they should have fired him and left him in Dallas and hired someone new in Minnesota. Would have saved the 9 months of salary they paid him and $2 million dollars.
here's a photo of the guy standing proudly in back of his Minnesota home (are those solar panels on the roof?) "Vaidyanathan has since started his own alternative energy company, Mouli Engineering Inc., and now installs solar panels on commercial and residential buildings."
Yep, guess those are solar panels. Obviously this guy isn't hurting for money, this must be his linkedin and here's his business -
Re:Where's the security protocol?
The whole thing smells fishy: the indictment's first odd bit is its vagueness about what Duchak was up to, specifically. No details.
The second weird thing is that DOJ doesn't want him held - no bail mentioned (nor in any newstory that I've found), and the "will not seek detention" box is checked on the indictment form (pre-trial detention.)
Likewise, the indictment says "five days or less" for the trial duration. I once sat for a sexual assault trial, and despite being an open-and-shut case of guy-grabs-coworkers-boobs-in-front-of-witnesses, it lasted 4-1/2 days.
Three federal agents are listed, you can bet their affidavits spell out more of what he did... and they don't appear to be online. Further searching, looks like there's absolutely nothing within
.gov that bears our Duchak's name.Under other circumstances (and administrations), this might have been a highly-touted smackdown in the war against whatever. Not so here...
But hey! There's a Douglas James Duchak listed in the whitepages
...Let's see if he can fill us in...

Re:i call BS
No, but the police, FBI, sheriff, etc. ARE part of the government. I didn't mention the RNC once in my post.
Their protests were not planned against the police, the FBI, the sheriff or any other representative of the government. Their goal was to disrupt the Republican National Convention and prevent free speech and political discourse.
So what? Being an anarchist is not a crime. If you read TFA, you'd note that no search warrants were given, and that they were charged with 'conspiracy to riot.' I said they were not violent anarchists, in the sense that they were NOT planning violence or rioting.
... [ snip ] ...I know that's not in TFA. Please cite a source. If you do not, then, well...
Maybe you should spend more than a fraction of a second glancing at TFA? I mean if you'd tried at all you would have seen this page:
Those plugging into this strategy will be free to shape their actions as they see fit, using the tactics they consider appropriate. As the specific blockade sites are established, there may be a system of delegating some sites as "red zones" (prepared for self-defense), "yellow zones" (peaceful but assertive), and "green zones" (aiming to avoid any risk of arrest) so as to accommodate a wide variety of creative tactics and involve individuals with differing needs and talents.
Or you could have found this page titled "Anarchy and the RNC: Protesters Won't Rule Out 2008 Violence". Sounds peaceful.
And if you tried at all you'd be able to locate one of the warrants.
Well, I showed mine. Now you show yours indicating (quoting from your original post) "these people aren't violent anarchists, they are citizens protesting the government." I mean, their website is titled "NORNC" and they have page after page detailing how they intend to disrupt the Republican National Convention. But maybe I misunderstood and they aren't actually intending to disrupt peaceful political assembly or to interfere with the representatives of millions of Americans getting together. Please, show me where I'm wrong and you're right. Otherwise acknowledge that you were wrong and speaking completely without basis.

I think a line was removed from the article
Later this year, regional phone providers such as SBC Communications and Verizon Communications plan to introduce their own video service in hopes of stealing customers from cable...
I was expecting to see this sentence go a bit longer:
"...while Qwest sits on it's big shiny blue ass and watch the market free fall away from it."
