MonitorsDirect
looks like they are out of business.
website is down, and angry customers are up. -
The 12ms response time is so much bullshit.
It's the speed of a pixel going from off to on and back. BLACK AND WHITE. It doesn't actually measure the response for a specific color at the sub pixel level. For gaming there is ONE lcd panel that has consitantly done better than all others, and that's the HyDIS panels manufactured by Hyundai. It's very very hard to find an LCD monitor still made with one. The ONLY currently available LCD panel I know of with the HyDIS panel is the Hitachi CML174B featured here with the specs here. If you buy into the LG screen 16ms or 12ms aussie myth, hey, it's your money. Enjoy the ghosting.

Re:Re-use is best
*almost* ok for games? Clearly you haven't used a Hitachi CML175B. The best purchase I've ever made for my computer, and I'm a gamer. The picture is crisp, and there is less strain on my eyes than with a CRT. More expensive than a CRT, but well worth it.

Good Info With Links and Prices
Well I happen to be doing the exact same thing. I decided to use an open relay rack with casters for space/ease of use purposes. Unfortunately this has not been assembled yet (physical presence issue, out of country, should have it assembled/pics by the 1st of Jan).
Relay rack 38U steel, with base (should fit under a doorway with casters)
129.00 - Rack
111.00 - Base x2 (Freestanding Application)
40.00 - Casters
Rackmount Computer Case
130.00 - Computer Case
30.00 - Power Supply (300 Watt)
15.00 - Center Mount Brackets
LCD / KVM Switch / Mounting (need to make custom rack mount for LCD Swivel)
999.00 - LCD Monitor (20")
41.49 - LCD Swivel
109.95 - Rack Mount KVM (8 Port)
18.99 - KVM Cables
Rack Mount UPS
249.99 - UPS 1500VA (free shipping from BestBuy, easy to return if problems, not cheapest price)
Hope that helps,

Solarism makes a cheap fast-response LCD
I've got a Solarism LM1530, it's a pretty nice 15" LCD monitor and has a fast response LCD (16 ms instead of a more typical 30 ms) for under $300. You can get a 17" version as well, for under $400. It works well with my Shuttle SN41G2. I have the black Shuttle case, and it looks great with the black Solarism monitor.
The reason I mention it to you is that I read some article where someone was speculating about how it might be good for LAN parties, since the monitor stand basically folds up and you can carry it flat. I can't say I've brought my monitor to a LAN party, but it is quite easy to carry around when folded flat.
Check out the review on GamePC for more info. I haven't seen any others yet, since this monitor is fairly new (on the market about a month, I think...). Anyway, I thought it was a great deal, since it runs about $150 less than the Hitachi CML174, and about $250 less than the Planar PX171M, which are also 16 ms response time LCD monitors. The only down side for me is that the Solarism doesn't have DVI, but the picture is still awesome for analog. -
Re:I hate to be a nay-sayer ...
Understand that these 'screen savers' really don't save your screen, current monitors die before any real burn in happens, but that is a different story.
I've seen a lot of people say this, but I spent some time researching used monitors, and I've found that burn-in is still a problem even on newer monitors. Here is an example.Or read the last FAQ on this page.
I'll admit the problem has mostly (but not entirely) gone away with newer technology, but it is still worth running a screen saver/blanker and/or enabling the power saver mode to keep your monitor working it's best.

Spend $1000 less and get a 23" LCD screen.
The Cornerstone f2300 LCD has a 23" screen, 1600x1200 resolution and is priced $1000 less at $2800.

Re:Dead pixels
Does anyone know of a link to Apple's official dead pixel policy? I could not find it on their site.
I would like to compare it to the Cornerstone f1200's "Zero Dead Pixel" guarantee.
Does Apple's policy include six individual sub-pixels(red, green or blue) or does it include just the whole(white) pixels. Does anyone know of any other LCDs that have a better dead pixel policy than the Cornerstone f1200?
