Re:Expanding Earth Theory
Comic artist Neal Adams also has a horse in that race:

He claims subduction is impossible, and argues that pretty much our entire model of atomic physics is wrong in order to explain why.

Re:the moon is growing
You might be joking, but there is a hypothesis that it actually is growing:

all planets grow
An interesting theory by Neal Adams is that all planets grow...

Perhaps the energy in the core of the planet gets converted into mass. My guess is there are lots of places on the planet that are "growing". -
Re:The New Printing Press
I'm not convinced that the internet has made the signal to noise ratio worse. As Sturgeon reminded us in 1958, "Ninety percent of everything is crud." It's always been that way. Go to the library and blindly grab 10 novels in a genre you like; I'm betting about 9 are crap. Grab a random mainstream newspaper and check the quality; remember the ads are part of the newspaper! Watch ten hours completely randomly selected network television. Watch ten random mainstream movies; your choice of year.
What the internet gives us is volume. If you're considering picking a magazine to read, and there is a selection of 20, of which only maybe 2 are good, it's not that hard to check them all out, or ask friends for opinions on the 20. When you're facing millions of web pages, it's more daunting. Fortunately it turns out that Web 2.0 is a good enough filter. My problem is a surplus of good stuff!
The other danger of the internet is that it lets cranks find each other, reach critical mass, and convince each other that they aren't crazy, leading to insanity like the birthers, the 9-11 conspiracy theorists, the LHC will destroy the world nuts, that the earth is expanding, and more. I want to believe that good speech, in the form of science and reason, will keep them back, but I fear it's not enough. The knots of crazy form a protective shell to protect them from science and reason. Because understanding why the crazy is wrong can take a fair amount of time, they successfully put out "Isn't it odd that..." tendrils that spread like crazy. Fighting back with reason is hard, since "What you learned in high school is basically true" isn't as fun of a fact to share with friends as "Science is all a lie!" A random comic book artist "fighting the power" is a more compelling than a scientist repeating what everyone knows.
*sigh*

Re:Which is worse
I can't decide which is worse, the Flat-earthers, or the hollow-earthers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollow_Earth . I heard some guy on C2C the other week spouting out some nonsense about looking for a hole in the arctic that would prove the earth was hollow, I can't believe people still believe this crap.
Neal Adams (famous comic book artist, especially for Batman) is a big proponent.... check out his crackpot site: http://www.nealadams.com/morescience.html Actually, he's a proponent of the "expanding earth" theory which is even more crackpot.

Re:God particle
"(minute quantities of
...) matter are constantly being created"
Finally, that's how the earth can grow. :)

growing planets
of course it is hot inside, it is, as are all other planets, growing from the inside. (!)

Neal Adams' geology
Made me wonder whether this might have something to do with Neal Adams, an influential superhero comic book artist, being quite much into alternative geology, but apparently it's more kryptonite which could have inspired his interest, and not the other way round.
-
It's totally worthless.
Between the trolls, complete loons, insane geological theories, loons engaging in revisionist history, bad biological science, and racists. Clearly because some parts of the internet are bad, the entire thing is totally worthless. But if you say this sort of thing, you get shouted down by people who've drunk Tim Berners-Lee's kool-aid. Clearly the logical course of action is to spend my time loudly complaining about how awful the Internet is, how anyone posting content to the web is wasting their time, and how only a web-cultist would claim that even though the web is flawed that there is any value to it.

Re:Of course...
To weigh in on this issue is to beg to get moderated out of existence. I am trying to discuss real science and not the phoney baloney handed out in American Physics Classes. Please if you disagree, just do it don't try to mod this down. Get a life if you cannot stand scientific discussion.
There is a growing body of evidence that the whole universe does not work the way that we were taught. In fact the "Physics" accepted generally is becoming unable to sustain itself in the face of evidence that it is just wrong. If fails in nearly every point to predict accurately and other models do predict accurately. There is a model which is the Plasma Universe model that works well. It predicts things like we are seeing very well. It says that Gravity is an insigificant force being outweighed by the EM force by 10^39. It even suggests that Gravity is no force at all but is merely a side product of the EM field. This model has predicted accurately every major new observation in the solar system in recent years. The Relativity and Gravity model has flunked the test of matching reality.
This new model arises out of the sciences and tools used by the IEEE types around the world. Their stuff works. They just met to discuss such things at ICOPS
The level of oceans has to do with electrostatic charges associated with cosmic physics and the makeup of the earth. This is related to why comets break up in deep space too far from the sun to have been so. It also makes the earth expand radiacally. By the evidence from NOAA the earth has expanded by 55% gaining mass from the energy of this process creating matter within the earth in the period in which the oceans came into being. The evidence may be seen in detail in cute videos or discussed here
When you realize that the ocean and the earth were made insitu and the process is on going at this time, you will tend to view the results of any report quite differently. I know this will upset a lot of people a whole lot. Just about every apple cart in town is going to get tilted over by this stuff. Wake up. The people who have been teaching you for so long are wrong.
