For fuck's sake:

Let alone dreamcast, PS2, the SNES modem...
Clueless article for marketroids. -
Re:HmmThe Genesis, NES, and TurboGraphx16 werent online (well, the Genesis was with XBand eventually), and some of the most innovative, playable games were released on those 3 platforms.

Re:Are you kidding?
Yeah, and he couldn't even be bothered to do a proper link to the list of games he references, instead telling us to Google it!
Anyway, I did, and Google spellcheck said "Do you mean Mike Hitler's rarity list?"
Um.. no... -
Re:Nothing really new..
Well, the difference between the PocketFami and the other two systems that you mention is that there is a really good chance that the PocketFami does not suck. All of the previous portable Famicom/Nintendo Entertainment Systems sucked in some major way. But rumor has it that the PocketFami is finally a portable worth owning. So in a way, it could be something new.

Re:Has existed for at least 15 years
Glad someone else remembers. It was called the NES hands free. Introduced in 1989, and was mostly distributed to the Starlight Foundation. Nintendo also sold them at cost to whoever wanted to order one for $120 each.

Re:Hacked eReadersUm.. it has an NES emulator built-in to it: http://www.nesworld.com/ereader.htm
Now, it only supports enough of the NES's features to work with anything but very simple or very old games, but this is exactly why they are able to distribute Excitebike, Balloon Fight, Donkey Kong, etc.
They are the NES games running under emulation.
Theoretically, I guess one could convert some of the older games by yourself to play on it.

Re:Or just buy an original NES... or maybe not.
Get a top-loading NES. They were solidly built and basically blinkey-free.
You can also get a new NES out of China, if you can find one of the myriad of clones. They generally have better connecters than the original, and are still being produced new to this day.
The NES is a system that really needs to be played in hardware, not emulated. Ironically, it was it's relative simplicity that made games focus on the physical interaction aspect... something that just doesn't come across as well with the computer's lag.
For your specific problem, if you don't want to buy a new system, just jimmy the new connector until it is sufficiently loose. Go slowly but surely, and it will eventually loosen up. A friend of mine had a tight grip system when he first replaced his connector. While it didn't have the grip of death of yours it was quite tight, but has worn down to being simply sufficient.

I haven't seen a Genesis clone from them (or from anyone as a matter of fact), but maybe you're confusing it this? it was the first completely legal Famicom/NES clone (patent expired on system, games licensed from Color Dreams) -
Re:NES question
As a matter of fact, Pelican Accessories made a legal one just two years ago, dubbed Game Station Arcade. It didn't have any of the big-name NES games, but featured most of Camerica's line of gaems, including The Adventures of Captain Comic (which looked better on the NES, but was a better game on the PC).
