Re:What could possibly go wrong...
I guess you've never heard of "civil asset forfeiture", which is quite popular with many law enforcement departments these days. If the police just "feel" that anything you have might somehow be related to drug money, they can (and often do) seize it. Then you have to take them to court and prove it's NOT, often spending more than what what seized. No proof, arrests, or real "due process" is needed from them to keep your stuff. Carrying cash to go buy something? You might be going to buy drugs (even though your record is completely clean and you've never been involved with anything like that before) and now your cash and car is theirs.
References: (this is just a few, there are hundreds if not thousands of these types of abuses every year now)...

Re:You don't get out much
Democrat run cities seem to be the worst, you can check the stats on that one.
Let's see...San Francisco, median household income: $78,378. Los Angeles, $55,909. Chicago? $63,153. Detroit? $26,095. New York City (Home of the President, Donald Trump), $50,711. Looks like your examples are mostly doing well. The only one that's significantly below average is what, Detroit?
So you've got one. Except Detroit is in Michigan. A state run by Republicans for years. Why haven't they fixed any of that city's problems? Why haven't they done what they did for Flint...oh wait, that wasn't a good thing.
Besides, you want to know what's done about the Homeless? Bus tickets. Out of sight, out of mind.
Of course, this has been a problem for decades problem for decades, but you're too busy blaming Democrats, as usual for yourself, but then...why can you offer no solutions, no miracles in your partisan bastions of prosperity?
Oh wait, you think because you can rail about a few high-profile cities, you think nobody has driven through rural Mississippi and seen the abject poverty there.
And you know what? A lot of those homeless are veterans. Maybe you're just not patriotic enough?

They're pirates
Stealing money for the state, just like pirates used to do.
They used to hang pirates. I think we should bring the practice back, for cops that do this. Also, the states attorneys that have them do this.
In this story - http://www.newschannel5.com/ne... the lady overseeing it all was just full of herself. She didn't give a crap that she was taking college money, other legitimate money at all. She should have been taken right out and hung from the nearest tree along with her merry band of cops she was encouraging to do this.
She was voted right out in the story I saw. However I feel she should be prosecuted for armed robbery along with the cops. In the above story it's very very clear that's exactly what they were doing. Robbing people at gunpoint. No better than a common jack booted thug.

Re:Why
Police routinely destroy, delete, edit and/or obfuscate footage when it shows them in an "unflattering" light, why do you expect everyday citizens to turn over evidence against themselves when the police fail to do the same?

Now they're on the highways too
I drive across the US to avoid those idiots.
Unfortunately, unless something changes, the days of being able to do that are coming to an end.
We need to end this agency once and for good.

Re:This device empowers criminals.
TSA can only make suggestions to local governments about train security. They don't control it. What is your support for them trying to "get to highways"?
Sigh. You thought you were safe on the road, eh.
What have you got to hide, citizen?

Re:And NBC et al paid how much for Enzyte?
The difference may looks subtle, but consider that herbal supplements like Enzyte aren't likely to kill you, although they won't work.
Oh really? (google it for many more articles) Many drugs come from plants - if the drugs work so do the herbal versions but with far more risk to the idiot taking them! When using a plant extract the concentration of active ingredient is not well controlled and there are other, potentially harmful, chemicals in the plant. Compare that to drugs which are carefully synthesised under laboratory conditions so that you have a precise dose and there are no other harmful substances included.
The only good thing that can be said for allowing these herbal remedies without controls is that it is one of the few mechanisms for natural selection we have left. -

Being an employer does not give you the right to suspend the constitution. We are citizens, not slaves. Running a business does give to a license to be a tin god. The Founders of the US understood this, and they were willing to die for it. People in the middle east are dieing right now in order to have the right to freely express themselves. Your statement puts you firmly on the same side as King Gorge IV, Stalin, and the Taliban. How does it feel to be on their side? I think you fit right in.

Don't forget some the best tech working - the hamsLet us not forget all the ham radio operators who have been working continuously since even before the hurricane made land fall, whether they are working in RACES, ARES, SATERN, the Hurricane Watch Net, or just volunteering their time on their own in the disaster area. There has been far too many ignorant dolts, especially with regard to the topic of BPL, who trivialize ham radio as some special interest hobby that should go away so that we can get subpar internet access to places where it is feasable to get better service otherwise. Where are your cell phones and internet service now jackasses?

Re:Taco political endorsement unprofessionalWell said! I am personally so damned sick of hearing how freakin wonderful Clinton and Algore are from the mainstream media that I am about to gag. I am not about to tune in to Slashdot to read the same damned garbage.
When are you stupid liberals going to realize that in supporting the likes of Clinton and Gore that you are supporting the very people that are undermining things that Slashdot and its readers hold dear like privacy, encryption and FREE SPEECH.
Gore won't even fix a lousy rental house that he owns, how can he be trusted to run the country. (story from our local - Nashville - TV station.) I am from Nashville and I know what I twit Gore is. I just love how he spent his entire life away from Nashville, and then suddenly calls it his home when he figures that he can gain more votes by being seen as a good ole' southern boy. Don't fall for that shit. I also love how he refuses to visit Nashville unless it is in the middle of rush hour, so he can tie up the already horrible traffic for even longer while his motorcade makes its way 15 miles from the airport to his headquarters on the other end of the county. Hey Algore, how much pollution was caused by all that traffic standing still for hours as you drive by? How many hours were wasted that parents (sitting in the traffic jam) could have been spending with their families? Go away - we don't want you here!
I can't believe that people as intelligent as those who read (and operate) Slashdot can be so damned stupid as to fall for the Democratic Party's line of bullshit.
Exactly what the hell has Clinton-Gore done for YOU since 1992? As for me, my taxes have gone up thanks to Clinton's tax increase in 1993 - the largest income tax increase in American history. I work in human resources - I know what happened. And now, Bill Clinton vetoes the repeal of the "marriage penalty". Why the hell should married couples pay higher taxes than people that are not married or couples living together? This same "penalty" cost me an extra $2000 in taxes last year because I got married in November. Even though my wife and I had not lived or worked together before November, we had to cough up $2000 just for being married.
By all means, if you bleeding heart liberal commies think that you are not paying your fair share in taxes already, then get out your checkbooks and write a fucking check to the local, state, or federal entity of your choice.
Have you morons forgotten how Gore himself has insulted your intelligence with garbage like "I invented the internet" and "Gore goes open source"?? And now you want him as president?? WTF??
Also, what the hell do GW Bush or the Republicans have to do with this 2600 guy getting arrested? Need I remind you that Philly's population is almost 5 to 1 DEMOCRATIC. I'll bet that it was a DEMOCRAT that arrested your precious little cracker (or at least there were Democrats involved in the process.) I know it said "This has no relevance, but...", but you are implying that GW or the RNC had something to do with it.
WHEN George W wins in November, I'll be laughing my ass off at all of you.
If I want liberal bias in my news, I'll read the fucking newspaper. I can see that Slashdot is no longer "News for Nerds. Stuff that Matters." It is now "News for Leftwingpinkobedwettingtreehuggingliberalcommies. Stuff that we hope you'll think matters."
You can take your Karma and your scores and shove 'em up your ass.
