Re:hmm
Not innovate? Nintendo is responsible for the D-Pad, Rumbling controllers, the Virtual Boy, the e-reader, wireless controllers for the NES, and the Game & Watch, among other things. Granted, not all of those were particularly successful, but they were innovative.

Re:Is this the one where you scan your game cards?
You might be thinking of Barcode Battler, which is not the same as the GBA e-Reader (which helps tie in with Nintendo's CCG market. ie. Pokemon).
(Also, how many other ways can game companies squeeze every last cent out of gamers? It's pretty amazing what they've come up with so far.)
I must have missed the part where Nintedo puts a gun to your face to force you to buy their games. -
Re:Does anyone remember??I've got one of those. I thought they were a great idea, even if the barcode was nothing more than a random number seed.
Have you seen the "new" Nintendo e-reader? Original NES games encoded as 2D barcodes and emulated on the GBA.

Re:The best NES Game ever is not SMB 3, it is:
Nintendo, if you're listening, I would pay another $50 to see this game ported 100% exactly to my GBA or even PC - assuming I could get an authentic 2 button controller to go with it.
:-)(Yes, I've played it on Mame, and the sound and gameplay isn't quite the same.)
Although there are no plans for it, I would not be surprised to see this game appear for the e-reader. Also, don't sell emulators short - in my experience, with the right one (I have heard good things about NESticle) the experience can be as good (or better - quick save + quick load) as the original.

Re:Note that 'Collectable' don't exactly mean 'Goo
I'd still willingly pay money for...Excitebike
You're in luck - there's an adapter for the GBA called the e-Card reader. You swipe special cards in it that have data along their edges. The decks are NES games - one of them is Excitebike. Once you get past the $70 GBA investment and the ~$40 for the card reader, the decks are $5 each. There's also some more NES titles. This, coupled with the ulockable Metroid in Metroid Prime is proof to me that Nintendo hasn't forgotten their roots. -

Re:The cards hold 4.4K
According to the e-Reader website (flash required), "with e-Reader technology, the code for an entire NES game can be stored on a stack of just five cards!"
And so this is probably where the collectible trading card aspect really comes into play: you need a complete set of 5 cards in order to play the game! Very clever, but I'm not surprised considering this is the company responsible for the Pokemon craze. -
