This guy also did that on his earlier visualizations (not in this current "peacock" style though).

My current, functional, C= 64 setup
If anyone's curious, the setup I used to do this is pictured here:
http://www.mymorninglight.org.nyud.net/C64/index.htm
It's still set up, and still works. I haven't tinkered with it in a while, but last time I powered it up (2 months ago) it was working.

Re:Commodore 64
They had to let 1/2 the staff go, to survive. Since I had been there for 20 years, I was making a lot more than many. I hold no bitterness toward any of them. They are good people, and I am glad that the station remains on the air to this day!
BTW, on the Commodore 64 topic, this is what I have for my C64:
-
That's not a Commodore 64
Good grief. Sure, it's outdated, but the Commie 64 was more than just another computer. It was a hobby. It was a pastime. It was a learning tool. It was an EXPERIENCE. If you had the ability and knowledge, you could add new features and functionality to the machine by cutting traces and soldering wires to the leads on chips, to your extension circuitry. I added all kinds of extras to mine, including a BASIC extension, MicroMon Assembler, a cartridge "bypass" switch, etc. Can't do those kinds of things with modern PC's.
My first word processor was "Speedscript". I typed it in from COMPUTE! Magazine over several days. That program did, in six kilobytes, what WORD was doing in hundreds, back in the early 90's! I used it more than any other software on that Ol' 64!
Now, want to talk about emulators? How about this one:
http://www.mymorninglight.org.nyud.net/C64/J64.htm
Now THAT is a COOL C= 64 emulator, if I do say so myself!

Here's the COAL link to this...
In case the server gets Slashdotted, here's the Coral link:

Interesting article.

They changed the page
But you should be able to view a cached copy here:
http://connectify.blogspot.com.nyud.net/2010/12/why-leather-cover-crashes-kindle-3.htmlNot sure if the change was intentional or what.

Re:Page has been removed?
Try the Coral Cache http://connectify.blogspot.com.nyud.net/2010/12/why-leather-cover-crashes-kindle-3.html
And yeah, the picture shows him measuring his fingers at 2-megaohms. Those hooks still might be electrically connected, but this picture clearly shows him measuring incorrectly.

I find this even more interesting than the post
The following is from Cryptome, link here: http://cryptome.org/0003/wikileaks-amok.htm
Wikileaks Cables Amok
A sends:
In the last days I have been following the release of a bunch of US diplomatic cables from W-i-k-i-l-e-a-k-s. All of them were initially released uncensored but as you might know some of them have been removed, others have been partially redacted (a.k.a. censored) without any kind of prior notice.
The people from WL said that they will redact some of the names in order to remove personal identifiable information but in fact they have removed full paragraphs that although they could be a little bit embarrassing for US diplomacy they do not put anybody at risk.
For example:
- There were 13 cables deleted from WL cablegate site (e.g.: #09LONDON1385).
- At least 11 cables were slightly redacted (e.g.: #07PARIS322).
- 138 cables published by Lebanese Al-Akhbar paper but not yet put into WL.
- 33 cables disclosed by the British paper The Guardian but not yet in WL.
I have not seen or read any news regarding this strange change of policy in any media so this is the reason I think you might be interested to know about it and maybe publish it in your site for public scrutiny.
You can check the differences with the uncensored cables at:
* http://leakager742hufco.onion/ (with tor as its a hidden service)

Re:Embarrassing?
Embarrassing the article got slashdotted. Try the web site on port 8090.
Also embarrassing that you spelt "embarrassing" incorrectly.

Re:Coral Cache link
Won't work at all, because you lost the '!' on the end..
Try this -
Coral Cache link
may not work until SOMEBODY uses the coral cache and is able to see the site (and thus cache it for the first time)
-
Re:"Looks something like this"?
Try a cached version of the link instead.

Timeline for Primer
xkcd didn't really have to bungle up the Primer timeline as much as they did, though that does sort of defeat the joke:

Already Sladshdotted! Here's a CORAL link
I'm glad I got this just in time! Here is the CORAL link to this:

The site itself
I note that TFA summary lacks a link to the ig Nobels own site..
So here it is although via Corel Cache since the site appears to be taking quite a heavy hit.
I think I'm probably the first to try via corel cache so its still loading for me, but I hope giving this link will improve that... -
