"defense fund"
I wonder how much he'd need. Remember, Hollywood/MPAA/RIAA organizations have *MILLIONS* of dollars and they won't hesitate to throw down whatever cash they need to make their point.
Unless Warren Buffet himself decides that he's going to throw down a huge pile of cash, is it even realistic to expect that a legal defense fund is going to be much help?
Example: I had an old ISP sue me for breach of contract (they lied. Fuck you, o1) but because I could not afford to defend myself in court, next thing I knew the slimeball lawyer/collection agency they hired was telling me "This will cost you $10,000 when we're done with you." Why? They can charge whatever the hell they want.
Can Cohen/etc afford to pay these overly inflated legal fees? That's the big question, and it's yet another example of what CRAP our legal system has become. -
overlawyered USA!
Gotta love it when the lawyers can basically bankrupt you with total bullshit lawsuits by charging ridiculous "legal fees" for pushing some papers around. (Yes, I know some lawyers, a lot of them charge $400/hr to go drop off papers at a courthouse. Ridiculous.)
Fuck you, o1 for doing the same thing. -
Re:Sure!
Hey, there's plenty of games for the Mac. There's Zork, Breakout, Super Breakout... uh, Photoshop...

Re:new imac
Apple? Games? Oh yeah

Re:tardOff the top of my head the things I personally have come accross:
- Printing in Safari on A4 YuK! Does it do anything right?
Printing in Mozilla OSX with NO header or footer (ie: without: url, page No. etc)
Interactive spell-checking in WordX on large documents brings the machine to a crawl
Apple's samba! (in case ya want to use shared files on a PC WITHOUT corrupting them)
Will this "System Update" Hose my system?.... this time....?
Availability - "store.apple.com will ship it to you..."
on the plus side there is Super Breakout....

So a mac version won't be long now!
A Linux client has also been in development alongside the requisite Win32 version.
So I guess us Mac owners can expect a version summer of '09.
As a Mac Gamer it hurts me that a Linux client will come out before an OS X version will. -

Apple gamers....
I just hope it turns out better than being a Mac Gamer. (Complements of the Red vs. Blue guys)

Re:It's still cheaper than a Powerbook
Any game you can play on the Dell will work on the Mac too, and almost as well.
You mean like Photoshop? -

Complete RvB torrent
Here is a newly created torrent that has all the episodes. This means that it includes the earlier files, and all of the extras except the original trailer. This is is one
.zip and weighs in at 254.9MB.
You should watch the trailer before you abuse everyone's bandwith. -
Just to inform...
For those who don't know, machinima is the process of creating movies using a video game engine.
Red vs Blue has created some hilarious work using the Halo engine. The "Blood Gulch Chronicles" are about a bunch of dopey marines stuck in the bottom of a dry creek bed. They live, they love, they laugh, they blow stuff up.
Check out the trailer.

Re:40GB.... how... revolutionaryI was speaking from a luser's perspective. Does AAC work on a default install of Windows? (no). Neither is WMA as fully functional on a Mac.
Please consider your Apple zealotry here:
- The AAC is considered "open, nearly proprietary" insofar as market penetration counts. Native support in Windows will be a long time coming, if ever.
- The
.NET framework is open too, and do you see it running natively on the Mac?
Disregarding nearly-irrelevant side efforts, just because a spec is open does not mean it is commonly accepted (native Ogg on windows? not.) The point about WMA being pure money grubbing by MS holds no water in this case considering Apple's (albeit circumventable) DRM tactics with iTunes/AAC on Macintosh.
Perhaps we differ at a more base level-- as a Macintosh apostate accepting WinNT, I believe that market share matters. As a Apple zealot, perhaps it does not matter to you since you can invoke jihad on the Windows installed market share.
If we differ at such a base level, I hope you have fun with all those 'brand new' OS X games ported from two year old Windows products.

What the....
...how can you mention game engine videos and leave out Red vs Blue and the Blood Gulch Chronicles.
Don't get me wrong. Randy Glass is the godfather of Halo movies, but Red vs Blue took it to an entirely new level. Heck, those guys were even invited to go to the conference and made a special video for it. This is just blasphemous. -
Gaming on the Mac... It's why I switched!
Ok, I'm sure plenty of you have seen it, but for those of you that haven't check this (Quicktime format) out. If you weren't convinced that gaming on a Mac is totally awesome, you will be now!
Props to redvsblue.com and their work. -
I do it myself
Currently I'm hosting about 45 domains and about 15 machines at my home.
I have a T1 through o1 and so far I've been very happy with them. I know most of the guys that work there, and they actually call *me* if they notice any issues with the T1 circuit.
It's costing me about $500/mo for the full 1.54mbit circuit. No other limitations at all. I run my own DNS & everything.
I'm a happy customer. :)
