Re:Plug-Spreading?
In Australia, where this article was written, almost every home power outlet is side by side, so he didn't go to ANY trouble to find a power outlet which was side by side.
Also your standard "buy it at the shops" power board has that same spacing since it's a standard. You have to buy a special hugely spaced power board. Notice this one has only one specially spaced one: https://www.target.com.au/p/us...
This one has none: https://www.officeworks.com.au...
This one has actual spacing markers to show you where they will fithttps://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/hpm-5-outlet-power-surge-protector-hpd1055

Re:Yeah yeah
Except cheap laser printers are roughly the same cost as cheap ink-jet printers at about $50.
"Cheap" colour laser printers are a bit more than $50.
They don't cost that much more. You can pick one up in Australia for A$80.
Should be fine for the home printing in colour, I'd probably spend a little bit more if it were a business or I expected to to a fair bit of printing (around $150-250 depending on expected usage). -
Not New
The idiot also bought a USB memory stick he used in the 'collar bomb' (Given the description though, it's basically a box and chain) from a local Officeworks using his Mastercard. Real genius there. Although it's important to note that law enforcement around the world subpoena email providers everyday so I wouldn't exactly call this news.

Re:I was really excited about the adam
Slightly OT but I was in a store here in Melbourne yesterday and noticed a little netbook (ACER, I think) running Android with the stock shell. Looked very nice. The strange thing was that it had a "Windows 7 Starter" sticker beside the keyboard.

Re:OH GODYeah, I understand Microsoft's gouging Europeans too.
Newegg doesn't ship to Australia, though some US online sellers do, and you can save some money that way, though not a lot. That's fine for geeks, but when my niece believed the advertising and bought Home Premium from Officeworks for AU$459, it was a big burn for her.
It hurt even more a month later when she had to admit it was awful, and reverted to XP.
