Why didn't they mention the failures too?
Like these?
I guess success like beauty, lies in the eyes of the beholder.

Re:Islamic extremist values
Oh ok. So when I have to take a whiz I'll just whip it out in public and let fly and if you get offended then you must be a pervert. After all, I'm not using it for the sexual purpose, I'm doing what nature has dictated so it's perfectly fine right?
Pissing in public is perfectly acceptable in more developed countries. Only in horribly repressed societies would this be considered a sex crime.
I don't think people from certain countries even realize how ridiculous their antiquated taboos of religious origin appear to others. Putting a swimsuit on a 2 year old? Sitting in a sauna with clothes on? Thinking breastfeeding or urination are sexual acts?

Re:Waste of money
The world (especially voters and politicians) believe in nutjob armageddon/rapture bullshit and are hell-bent on making sure it happens as soon as possible
Let me help you out there -
The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, AKA the Soviet Union, governed by the religion suppressing atheistic Communist Party of the Soviet Union, in a "Dictatorship of the Proletariat" operated according to the "scientific principles" of Marxist-Leninism, built an actual Doomsday weapon, that is still active: Soviet Doomsday Device Still Armed and Ready and Inside the Apocalyptic Soviet Doomsday Machine.. Apparently secular socialist progressive totalitarians are just as crazy as anyone else. Salud.

Out of sight but not out of mind
William Burrows’ classic 1986 book about satellite reconnaissance, Deep Black, opened with a vivid scene of retired US Air Force Major General George Keegan recounting how in the early 1970s he had become obsessed with Soviet civil defense preparedness. As head of Air Force intelligence, Keegan had ordered his junior officers to gather all the satellite photography that they could of Soviet underground shelter building. Eventually he compiled a massive amount of data indicating—he claimed—that virtually every large apartment building erected in the Soviet Union since 1955 included a fallout shelter, factories had underground bunkers, and there were “seventy-five huge underground command posts.” A few of these underground facilities housed command centers for the Strategic Rocket Forces and were buried in the Ural Mountains. In particular, Yamantau Mountain (“Evil Mountain” in the local Bashkir language) and Kosvinsky Mountain were considered to be the Soviet equivalents to Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado, home to NORAD (not to mention the W.O.P.R. and the Stargate).

According to Shia lore, the Imam is a messianic figure who, although in hiding, remains the true Sovereign of the World. In every generation, the Imam chooses 36 men, (and, for obvious reasons, no women) naming them the owtad or "nails", whose presence, hammered into mankind's existence, prevents the universe from "falling off". Although the "nails" are not known to common mortals, it is, at

I think I'm getting tired of all news Apple
Just last month, it was news about its best ever quarter.
Then just today, news of its stock hitting north of $500.
Again today, some site reporting that Apple's iPad3 will hit us in March.
When Apple finally fades, these pundits will be the ones saying something to the effect: -
..."They could not sustain that 'explosive' growth", or ..."We knew Android was a force to be reckoned with" or ..."With the demise of Steve Jobs Apple then lacked a visionary"...and so much other nonsense...I say this because Apple has had a number of failed products in the past.
I am just tired of all news Apple. Am I alone?

Re:Open Source
1) Most of the people involved in drug cartels are brainless thugs or stupid patsies. Not the type of people likely to use a high-tech solution to a problem.
"Most?" Ok, I guess if you're really smart you get legit work. But the drug cartels are not entirely without clever people.
For instance, they've built a number of near-submarines (photos), and there are rumors of GPS guided ones in the works. (I say "near-submarines" because they float just below the surface and run an air-breathing engine using a snorkel). Seems pretty sophisticated to me.

Re:So much for the seeds of ....Seems like something they would do.
Seem like something a surprisingly large number of people might do, including this one which looks most like the source pic.
Though I'd normally be looking more towards Top Gear than Mythbusters for this sort of action...
