Re:Mozilla controlled by totalitarian progressives
This is the Progressive future, as assumed and envisioned by Conservatives who hate any form of change and demonize it where ever possible.
My utopia is your dystopia and all of that.
Down with democracy
No real progressive would say or support that. That's fear mongering by your own leadership.
Down with the moral teachings of all major world religions
A good number of progressives don't like religion because it specifically runs against it's own moral teachings when convenient. Case in point: The Bible says to care for the poor and downtrodden, to welcome travelers and immigrants, and to live lives free from material attachments. Guess what the official rhetoric of the self-proclaimed defenders of Christianity is? The poor deserve it, damn everyone who is not one of us, and Greed is good.
We love the morals, but we hate the contradictions. You don't need a religion to teach or uphold morals and ethics, but you do have to teach and uphold them.
Down with happy healthy childhood
More demonizing.
Long live financial oligarchy!
That is not true in the slightest. We have, as a platform, removing money from politics. It's a fundamental requirement to be against money in politics to be able to call yourself a progressive in the US.
Brendan Eich was forced out as CEO of Mozilla for the horrible crime of expressing a political opinion shared by the overwhelming majority of the American populace and considered obviously-correct for all of history until the last five years.
Just because it was considered "tradition" does not make it immune to re-evaluation. Further same-sex relationships are present in all species not just humans, your view of history is wrong, and so is your view of the present.
However, I will agree that forcing him out via mass Twitter posting for his personal beliefs was wrong. It's not democratic in the slightest to have a random group of unrelated third parties dictating who can and cannot be employed in a given business. If it were a big enough issue, let them file a complaint, but they should not be dishing out personal attacks like that nor should any person or group give in to pressure to comply with such lynch mobs.
Long live sodomy! Long live emotionally damaged children!
Governor Matt Bevin, is that you?
Too bad - it's going to be forced on you literally at gunpoint
The only ones who have been pointing guns around here are insane sociopaths, and people frothing at the mouth over the idea of starting a civil war to purge the other. In other words, people who believe in dictatorships and absolute authority over the will of the people. As stated already, no real progressive supports such a position.

Re:Maybe not
That's odd. I searched for "meteorite" in the Bible and there weren't any results.
You didn't use the GoogleWebs properly. I found about a dozen.

Re: Toys?
Jesus Christ lived in a world where milking goats was a living. Creative skills are what's needed to survive in a world where robots threaten to automate much of the world we know, and that means play time is vital.
Huh?
Matthew 6:25: "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these"

Re:That's a load of bullshit.
"Islam is no more about taking over the world than christianity is."
Glad we agree then.
https://www.openbible.info/top...
Of course Christians aren't called to do it by the sword and there's no death penalty for apostates in doctrine (at least currently, thanks to Catholic law being far more malleable than Islam's and the New Testament being such a wishy washy lawless document).

You may need a refresher on the bible being against lying generally.

There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

Re:misrepresentation of Islam
http://www.openbible.info/topi...
The difference between Muslims and Christians (especially those in the US), is that the most conservative Muslims actually try to live they way their religion teaches (including not just the Qur'an, but the Old Testament as well), and yes, idolatry is a very serious no-no. Just think if the most conservative Christians would actually live the way Jesus taught.... putting all their energy into feeding the poor, housing and clothing those without, helping the sick... instead we have the most conservative Christians doing pretty much everything opposite of how Jesus' teachings go; they're just not as dedicated as the conservative Muslims are. -
Re:Disable player chat
Instead, openly gay characters are rare to the point of nonexistent in games.
One important part of successfully marketing something is broad appeal. Playing a gay protagonist evidently isn't something that appeals to the vast majority of game enthusiasts. Same for movies. If you were an enterprising individual perhaps you can see a lucrative niche?
The intent was to be shocking, and the casting very much reflected the societal assumption that white is good, dark is bad, and the violated expectation was part and parcel of the affect the movie wanted to have. That movie was released in 2005. Thirty years after the American civil rights movement, Hollywood still taps in to that cultural expectation, despite a generation of heavy political correctness in a much more visible medium than games.
Here's some references which predate the civil rights movement by about a thousand years. How shadow and light are referenced throughout history, having JACK ALL to do with some one's fucking skin. Black has a variety of meanings throughout history and especially to various cultures. Here's another one, the Yin and Yang, notice the colors?
These people and others like them are making the proposition that games should become part of the engine of social engineering that has made such a ham-fisted mess of television and movies, particularly for children.
Think of the children is effective at controlling people, why would there be any exception in today's political climate?
They think that games are for kids, and should therefore be used to condition children the same way they try to use TV. It would be unfortunate if that were to happen.
Do they ignore that the average age of gamers is 30s?
If games are to have any hope of being recognized as art, they have to be culturally relevant, and not be used as a bludgeon against culture.
Implying they're not works of art already is hilarious. Not every movie, just like games or that chunk of "pottery" made for mom, is a work of art either, but this is where taste comes in. Taste is highly subjective.

Re: Liberal strategy
I'm not a Christian (any more), but here you go.
Helping out the poor equally via taxes and government sanctioned aid seems to me to be a very efficient way to do things. Modern society simply wouldn't work without such things. Future society is going to depend even more on government benefits and sharing, since more and more jobs will become automated. We already have automated many shitty jobs out of existence, and we have the technology to automate a lot more of them. That's great from some points of view, and not so great from others.

Re:Article is wrong about Christianity
http://www.openbible.info/topics/caring_for_the_sick
James 5:13-15 ESV
Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.Matthew 25:
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’Matthew 25:44 ESV
Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ ...
