Re:Dear Bruce...
So it will be "ironic" when it all goes to Colbert's head and he starts believes his own storyline.
---
And besides that, I think there is a lot of support for the view that Colbert is ironic.
For example, here:
http://www.pacificviews.org/weblog/archives/001989.html
"Why Colbert's Irony Was So Effective"http://www.electricstory.com/reviews/editorials.aspx?id=6
"That's Colbert's ironic message."etc... on and on for pages.
So in some sense, you are like any wordsmith hanging on the old dictionary meaning of a word while actual usage is changing.
Is there irony in defending the meaning of irony when it is changing as you defend it?

Re:Look to your own backyard, thank youmod to me to hell if you like, but it is true that it takes a big does of exaggeration to make ID people out as a representative of America or religious America. Really? http://www.pacificviews.org/weblog/archives/Pictures/evolution_study_new.jpg Hey, we're better than Turkey! Go us!

Re:COPA Part Deux?
In case anybody is wondering, it seems like he's talking about this bridge. And I thought us Canadians were crazy with our bridge building.

Re:Please...
Well at least the convertor coupons benefit anyone who wants one. The bridge to nowhere benefits almost no one but the corrupt politician who demanded it.

Re:Why are they cancelling funding...?Don't get me wrong - I'm sad to see the Voyager mission winding down. It would be great to see more discoveries from beyond the boundaries of our solar system. Unfortunately, we can't keep Voyager going forever. We just have to leave some discoveries for future generations.
I suspect that reversing a small fraction of the recent tax cuts for the wealthy could fund Voyager for a long, long time. Or heck, cancel the Alaska "Bridge to Nowhere". This isn't a matter of "we can't", it's a matter of "we choose not to".

(Of course the author of that letter is also biased. What trickiness! See also this article on Pimental...)
