Guys..Bing is included in Yahoo search...
...so Bing surpasses itself as Yahoo search. In other news Google has surpassed AltaVista. And to rock the boat: Bing still is inferior to Google for search. Half of the stuff the video search indexes are YouTube videos as well for which I could go straight to YouTube and search from there.

Re:Free speech and democracy?
Google owns Youtube which is into providing specific government content and the first place to receive some of the content. Google is also directly involved with the government as a company as well as Google's founder had given extreme amounts of money and support to Obama. The pay off, well that's somewhat of a question but Obama put Google for government together, here is the US site and is expected to endorse quit a few laws that Google favors. There was even a pay off attempt.
Some people even believe that Google manipulated search results and canceled account of blogs critical of Obama. I'm not sure how accurate that is but here is something should be noted. I found in other blogs (which I can't seem to find right now) that at least with the accounts being canceled, the official Google reason is that people are filing complaints about them being spam blogs or racist speech and somehow no one at google is checking it before deleting the accounts, information, or posts.

Linux?
They are also looking at releasing the whole BBC archive to viewers as well.
see http://www.pandia.com/sw-2004/33-bbc.html
Xbox 360, PC, MEdia Center and other devices?
from TFA "The iPlayer computer application will only be initially available to those with Windows PCs. But the trust has asked the BBC to ensure that the iPlayer computer application can run on different systems - such as Apple Macs - within 'a reasonable time frame'. "
So how long before we can get this on Linux? or the PS3?
And how long is 'reasonable'...?
Suddenly my TV License payments seem more reasonable..... -
Re:Oh pleaseWorse still, Hitslink (the app/service that generated these statistics) does not measure sales or even overall usage -- it only measures hits to websites that use Hitslink.
From Net Applications' site:There is nothing to install. You simply paste a small piece of HTML code on each page you wish to track statistics on.
Ok. What kind of code is it? JavaScript? What if I regularly browse with Java and JavaScript disabled?
Or even simpler, what if I don't browse websites that use Hitslink? 40,000 websites is really not that much. Pandia notes that one estimate of the number of active websites in 2006 was 47 million (using the low end). Assuming that's true, 40000 websites is only 0.08% (less than one-tenth of one percent). That's hardly enough data to accurately portray what's going on worldwide, in my opinion, especially if the sites used to generate the stats are Windows- or Microsoft-centric. -
Re:How will Google's indexing be restricted?
Google's already been accussed many times of working with the Chinese to censor the Chinese version of Google. Censorship is a prerequisite for any company offering information to the chinese it appears.
Here's one example http://www.pandia.com/sw-2004/48-google.html -
Bring lawyers, guns and popcornSince an entire industry of sleezeballs has grown up around tweeking* Google page rank, I expect that we'll see quite a few lawsuits over Google changing how they figure out what order to present search results. (There have been a few over previous adjustments.) Whine and cheesed sleezeballs. I'll stick with the popcorn and beer, thanks!
* When I say sleezeballs and tweeking, I mean the people who will try outrageous stunts to game the system, rather than the consultants who will help you increase rank by the stunning tactic of actually improving your site. Radical, but sometimes it works.

Re:Good Luck! (more MSN searching history)
Here's some more history about Microsoft's (MSN's) searching capability.

"Google fully intends to overthrow Bill Gates"Back in August, Pandia interviewed Robert Massa about Searchking's publicly selling Google page ranking, but Massa didn't see that as a problem.
The interviewer (Jono Craig) asks Robert Massa, "Don't you view the monetarization of PageRank or your service as a threat to Google's successful business model?"
Massa's reply is, "Absolutely not. Of course that's what you'd expect me to say. The thing is, Google has invested a lot of time, money and technology into developing PageRank as a way to determine the quality of a Web page. They have a very sophisticated system of filters designed to do nothing more than find the good and catch the bad. Whether a link is free or paid for does not alter the content of the page the link goes to."
Later, Massa talks more about Google's possible response. " What I do know is if Google would strike a small Internet businessman like myself down for capitalizing on the credit given to me by Google themselves, then we all have much more to fear than some guy in Oklahoma selling a few ads. That would be an indication that Google fully intends to overthrow Bill Gates and rule the world."

Re:Spamming Google for $$$
Perhaps Google should countersue SearchKing for spamming Google's customers. It probably won't win, but would drain resources from SpamKing, I mean SearchKing.
Or just block them and their related sites out cold. They wouldn't be the first ISP to do it.

Listing of Domains Denied Mail Access @NRCDXAS.ORG
The following domains have been placed in our "deny" file. This is due to mail abuses that they have not addressed. Mail abuses can be the sending of spam, virus, abusive e-mail to participants in a list or private address, or severe misconduct by a user. When this happens the domain is contacted. If they a) do not correct the problem, or b) do not acknowledge the problem, then they are placed on the deny list.
If you are the owner of one of these domains, and you wish to be removed from this list, you must pay the $50.00 administrative fee for having to clean up your users problem, and take corrective action to prevent further abuse. Please do not contact me unless you are willing to pay the fee and make reasonable security contacts with complaints filed.

Pagerank Interview with Bob Massa
PageRank For Sale
Exclusive interview with SearchKing / PR Ad Network's Robert Massa.
SearchKing has started selling text ads on its network of independent portals, with prices based on Google PageRank. Jono Craig asks Robert Massa of SearchKing if he really believes he can get away with it.
By Jono Craig, 24 August 2002 -
The King is ScrewedIn a very good interview CEO Robert Massa says: "[...] We do not own the Websites and we have no influence over Google, who publicly publishes the PageRank of Websites through the use of their own toolbar, so we have no way of knowing what might happen later".
Right there, you said it King. You have no way to control someone else's own business. If you don't like it, fcsk you.
Later he goes on saying, "In the event the PR of a page with an ad changed, we would simply adjust the pricing or adjust where the ad was being displayed at the advertisers request."
I suppose you will sell your services at a real low price, very shortly
:)
