Re:Time does not exist
There is a book about that. The End of Time by Julian Barbour supposedly makes a similar assertion. I haven't gotten terribly far in the book as it is atrociously boring and monotone. (Some theoretical physicists really shouldn't be authors). Nonetheless, the topic is an interesting one to explore. I also recall Kaku having a discussion about various physical models of the universe simplifying when time is considered not to exist in his book Hyperspace. I am hoping he touches on the subject in his newer book Parallel Worlds.
Finally, this particular press release is actually about this young man's book. From Eternity to Here was just released in January of 2010. I don't have a copy yet but I certainly do intend to add it to my reading list. Finally, Hawking's Brief History of Time should be an essential read for anyone interested in time. I also figure that reading some eastern thought literature such as the Tao Te Ching might bring a very different perspective to the table regarding time.
As one might be able to tell, this topic is incredible to me. I've always found the concept of time to be a perplexing piece of crap that breaks people, kind of like religion. I didn't really mean for this post to turn into a list of references, but if anyone is interested in this particular entity in our universe, some of the words in the books I discussed might help. Also, any suggestions from others would be appreciated. -
Kurzweil
I'd recommend "The Age Of Spiritual Machines: When Computers Exceed Human Intelligence" by Ray Kurzweil. The first chapter is a bit dense, but it really picks up from there. It touches on a lot of highly technical issues, such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing, without being overtly technical itself. It would be a good launch-point into some heavier reading, is it contains a very extensive bibliography and recommended reading list.

Re:Sounds like a bunch of BS
You might also consider reading his book.
Startup it's pretty old at this point but I remember enjoying it. From the book, it's clear that he was comitted to Go.
So, characterizing him as "sounds like a person who bought the company to sue and make some serious cash on the curtails of other companies legit claims against Microsoft" seems off base. I would probably say that it sounds like a guy who's startup got crushed then he sold the smoldering remains to AT&T. AT&T sat on it for a few years then the guy found out that his startup was crushed partly by illegal means. So, he buys the remains back and trys to go get the guys who messed him over.
I'd say that there's nothing unsavory about that. I'd say that the unsavory is pretty much on Microsoft's end of the deal. -
Take Your Anti-Corporate Nonsense Elsewhere
We are lucky to have something Marshall Berman has enlightened us about and it's called modern progress -- companies can learn and evolve. They don't have to stay the same! They can change!
This is a great example of the corporate corruption plaguing the courts and, ultimately, the globe.
Just because people set up a corporation for the purpose of defrauding an industry -- don't blame all corporations. If we held every single corporation to blame for incorrect practices of employees and management, the economy would collapse. What many businesses are missing today are change mechanisms. Every company is doing something wrong right now. It's the duty of those who work there that see the impropriety to blow the whistle on bad practices, internally and if that fails, externally. If the company in question has the correct business systems in place to enable internal practice auditing to occur, then the company will survive.
Certain people are responsible for SCO's incorrect business philosophy. Let the focus be on them, and what they did wrong, and how they manipulated little old lady stockholders into shelling out big bucks for no reason whatsoever. -
