Starting to wonder whether an improved ground based communication network may be called for as a backup plan? Or maybe forcing companies to cohost on satellites?
With the amount of satellites being put up, we are rushing to make the Kessler Syndrome a reality. So much of what we take for granted has some dependency on satellites, so if shit happens up there we a screwed.
Yes, this is why the new design will involve a nuclear powered trebuchet and remove the need for life support. After all the goal is to a get human to the moon, while that being alive and returning thing are details that can be worked out after?
Thatâ(TM)s not what happens today. FUD is doing a good job of helping those destructive to society get in power and stay in power. In the meantime a well researched stance is screamed at for being elitist, left wing, supporting already defeated candidates and non-patriotic
Donâ(TM)t underestimate the power of the misinformed populist vote. It has hurt the US, the UK and other countries.
Your opinion and votes matter more than ever. We should not need to resort to demeaning opponents (dead or alive) to try to make our arguments. Taking time to understand what scares a person will likely help make a better argument for trying to win them over.
While you are likely right, it also sounds like a poor excuse on Ivanka’s part, when her father was voted in due to Hilary’s emails. Surely it would have made sense to do better than the one accused? At the same time I have read stories where the approved systems are so clunky that this invariably staff do use other methods just to be able to get work done.
Do note I am not here as a supporter of Hilary or Trump, so I am not taking sides.
Drawing political lines here is not that useful, since there are plenty of republicans who will have invested. They would have been crazy not to have?
The actions should be directed at the company itself and maybe even putting regulation in place to control some of these practices. Ironically the past fews has been all about deregulation.
Nothing will change until some of the higher-ups at these big tech companies are jailed, or killed.
You don't need to go that far. Fining the CEO or the board would be alternatives. At that point there is personal interest to ensure internal process and procedures.
iOS and macOS are already the same thing under the hood. The difference is which frameworks are available and which UI is presented. While they may be borrow from each where is makes sense, Apple has been careful to distinguish the marketing and UI/UX of the two, to avoid confusion.
Microsoft as a counter blurred the lines, trying to push the Windows brand everywhere. The issue is that it didn’t allow developing a mobile solution that was distinct in marketing and this may have hurt how developers approached it? This issue had already been experiencing when Microsoft did Windows Mobile (renamed to Windows CE), years earlier.
One experiment that I am curious whether could be revisited is when Ubuntu had two OSs in one device. On the move it was the mobile personality that was used and when docked it was the desktop personality that took over. This is not the same as Windows, since they were essentially two different modes of operation, where Windows tried to make the two the same, but with an extra UI (metro).
Just curious whether you credit all the music and other third-party media you used in your video, possibly in the end titles? While that doesnâ(TM)t necessarily get YouTube to come to their senses, it may help in providing clarity to the greater community. The other value points here are allowing people to know where to get the music if they like and a tip of the hat to the creators of this other content. In fact, this is something I would encourage creators of all serious videos to do. Giving credit is as important as getting credit, IMHO.
Also, maybe look at another streaming service, such as Vimeo?
Bigots and power hungry civil servent exist across the board. Their political leaning doesnâ(TM)t always make a difference. Also, the left can be as closed minded as the right.
I imagine there are a few items p here
- libraries don’t have a large budget, so need to be smart about the spending.
- if libraries did do this, then people would likely complain this is not their role.
- librarians aren’t technologists, so would need an expert external entity who would likely inflate prices for their services.
- waiting for industry to do the big spend and then buy in when the tech it mature is more in line with a low budget and risk averse institution.
Research of this kind is probably more for the library of Congress to do, in the US, than smaller state or municipal libraries.
I’ll admit I haven’t verified any of these details, but this based on my own interpretation on what Ihave learnt about them. Feel free to correct any points.
Uh!? Or maybe the height of the jump was the big factor or that more to the point people only reading the summary/abstract miss important contextual détails.
We don't know that. That's mere speculation. Perhaps Apple would borrow even more Unix & OSS if Next not around.
It is speculation, but the next best alternative was BeOS and from what I know of it, it didn't seem like a great option. The Unix underpinnings of OpenStep was a very real strength and combining that with a generally good UI and top level stack was another strength. Adding Steve Jobs into the mix further helped cement the advantages. I am not convinced that Jean-Louis Gassée would have been the right person for the job?
Developing an operating system is hard. Developing a great operating system takes many iterations, and therefore years. Apple was not in a position to plan for many years.
Most devices at Apple share the shared heritage of the original MacOS and OpenStep. MacOS as we know today was essentially a reskined version of OpenStep. The OS at the core of the iPhone, the Apple Watch and MacOS are all based on what came from NeXT. Without that the Mac would be dead.
Yes Steve Jobs being CEO was certainly important, but so too was the software he brought with him.
Should add that setting up a production line is certainly not a zero dollar affair either. Moulds, for example, cost a fair amount of money, so you need to sell a certain number if units to recoup the cost. Also, not all units pass the production line and there are plenty of people wanting that complementary support.
Even with all the other costs factored in, no one in their right mind would sell an item at cost. It would actually work out to be a loss maker and you generally charge what the market is willing to pay.
If someone can afford to pay for a new phone every year then we should let them. Most of the rest of us should be happy to replace it every three years. Heck, it isnâ(TM)t as if the phone really is irrelevant by then, based on current iterations.
Maybe content hosts should simply geoblock the whole the EU with a message of explaining the outcome of this?

Maybe Apple was better off being secretive and then surprising us? Wait until they get it right, rather than promising and then under delivering.
Setting bold goals and staying on schedule.
So I guess, they sacrifice safety.

But neither of them are CEOs of those companies. Maybe a decade or two ago, but not now. You should instead focus on current management?

If they had no competition for these products, then what does that say about the market and the ability to monetise on the concept?

Curious how we can demonstrate this loss is due to the actions of Google and not companies stuck in old school business practices?

Obama was no saint, and he certainly doesnâ(TM)t currently have the power to do anything about the current situation.
We want the current administration to do something, because they appear to have the means to do so, by simply being in power.
So how do previous presidents and candidates help in resolving current issues?
So the solution would be to release a full priced version on a console, without the bullshit micro transactions?
No mention of price, but I would imagine around 350 USD?

Hopefully this will also lead to more affordable solid state storage solutions for laptops too.
I could also hope this will feed into lower prices for Nintendo Switch cartridges, but the type of storage probably isnâ(TM)t adapted for that?
Theyâ(TM)ll lure Wikipedia in and the decide they donâ(TM)t want to support those APIs anymore. What LTS plan?

Russians faking a car accident? That's why there are so many dash-cams over there. Maybe Tesla needed one here?

One article comparing BeOS to OpenStep: http://lowendmac.com/myturn/02...
