Re:Depends...
Most water based solutions don't use water at all, but instead a variety of types of non-conducting lubricating anti-freeze.

Alphacool silent stars rock. I own 3 of these and the 4th server in my rack (without one) makes more noise than the rest combined (just waiting for some other parts befoe I can watercool everything in the 4th pc as well.
Unfortunately the $100 for the Silent star is just the start as you then need to buy pumps/rads etc but for $500 you can have a silent pc (or spend the extra $250 for a water cooled power supply and have a really cool - extremely quiet pc).
Check out www.collins.net.pr/blog if you want to read more about some of the other water cooled stuff I have.
Cheers,

Re:20 bucks
You can buy LCD modules without having to take apart a DVD player to get it. Some accept vga inputs as well. The 640x480 ones are larger then the one referenced in the article though.

Re:Thermal grease info?
I usually get stuff like that at this place near where I live (Melbourne, FL, US), if you go pick up your order you don't pay for shipping. And they have Arctic Silver for $7. http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?

Not just price but selection is importantThe cheapest places don't necessarily have the best selection. Places I check are
- Directron huge selection and prices aren't too bad. Does double boxing for a small fee. Has nasty habit of putting fragile sticker on shipping carton which means "kick me" to UPS and Fedex.
- Provantagedecent selection and low prices on some stuff. Cable prices are cheap but they make up for it in shipping fees big time. Packing is a little uneven. You want a disk drive real bad if you order from them. I don't check their site unless it's something I know they have at a good price before hand.
- Performance PCsPC modding stuff.
- FrozenCPUanother modding place.

You have to check around. Not any one place has the best prices on everything or the best selection. For a particular part, there may be only one vendor carrying it.

About time.
I mentioned this place as originally supplying their own modded PSU's. Now they're supplying the new ones so you can get them without the mfgr's warrenty invalidated. Now if they'll supply external jacks so we can power external devices. And 120mm fans would be nice.

Re:New case standard needed
Hate replying to myself but ---
You can even buy products like this that give you similar capabilities in most regular chassis. Just add a SATA raid controller and you're ready to go! -
Re:Subtle case mods/Hidden wiring
That's one of my standard rants. You need power supplies without all that spagetti wiring. This place sells modded powersupplies with removeable cabling (voids the mfgr's warranty though). It would really be nice to have a powersupply with SATA power connectors built in.

My dream setup
The Ultimate Waterblock
Ultimate Pump
Ultimate Radiator
Two of these to cool the radiator at only 30db
Round it out with a Cool Reservoir and some tubing. Maybe toss in a GPU cooler. Plenty of pump to support it. -
Somebody does mod PSUs
Check out the pics here. Pricey but really cool looking.
