Re:Oh no that sucks!
And I'm saying this is why the Dems are so recalcitrant about stopping any flow of 3rd worlders into the US.
Other way around. This is why the REPUBLICANS are so adamant in stopping them. It isn't about protecting borders or protecting us bad hombres or terrorists or anything like that.
Because they vote Democrat.
No, because they won't vote Republican.
Imagine if there were a magic portal from Fundieland, where productive safe white fundamentalist Christians were being persecuted and killed by evil atheists.
So if we started taking Fundieland refugees and shoveling them by the millions into California, changing the voting demographics there to Republican, I guarantee all of this "refugees welcome" crap would turn around really fucking fast.
Nah, it would be the "refugees get out" rhetoric from Republicans that will be changing really fast.

Re:Will you guys ever learn?
"Islamic democracies" work quite nicely. Ask Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia.
Doing a quick search reveals countless religious problems in Turkey. Even ignoring their historical problem with Kurds (who aren't much different than secular rebels), the Alawites fear for their safety and have been attacked: "As Syria War Roils, Unrest Among Sects Hits Turkey" http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/05/world/middleeast/turkish-alawites-fear-spillover-of-violence-from-syria.html?pagewanted=all
And there are countless small stories of religious persecution, things that would be classed as hate crimes in America, e.g. http://www.compassdirect.org/english/country/turkey/15153
Malaysia has a two-tier justice system, one for Muslims one for others, with a history of discrimination against non-Muslims: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/13/world/asia/13malay.html
Again, countless reports of smaller-scale incidents as well. I'm sure you remember when churches were attacked for using the word "allah", which Muslims wanted to keep associated with Islam only; it made international news. Yeah that was good old Malaysia. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-10961282
Look at this little gem from that article: "But some Muslim groups are suspicious of their motives, our correspondent says, saying the use of the word Allah is a ploy to encourage Muslims to convert to Christianity - something that is illegal in the country."
So apparently proselytizing is illegal in Malaysia. HMMMMMM I wonder if that also applies to Muslims encouraging Christians to convert? Nope didn't think so: http://www.prayway.com/unreached/countries/malaysia.html "Constitutional guarantees of religious freedom are under attack, as it is illegal to proselytize Muslims, while Muslims may convert whoever they like."
Indonesia... seriously... why would you even bring up Indonesia? Are you unaware of all the problems in Aceh? They've had tons of Islamic radicals, and in 2006 instituted sharia: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/01/world/asia/01iht-aceh.2356621.html?pagewanted=all
And predictably since then things have gotten worse with attacks on Christians: http://www.persecution.org/2012/06/20/hundreds-of-muslim-extremists-attack-christian-prayer-house-in-indonesia/
Do you honestly think they are working "quite nicely" in these Islamic strongholds? Your standards are too low.

Re:Maybe I'm missing something
This is how - jailing atheists and closing Christian churches.

Re:Cultural Identification in Food
Yes, it is a fact well known to those of us with tinfoil hats on top of our tinfoil hats that there is no longer a single white male CEO at any US company. It's true! And it's now illegal to vote unless you're a foreigner!! And Obama's 'birth certificat' is a blatant forgery!!! And I'm hoarding gold and guns against the coming Apocalypse as prophesied in the Turner Diaries!!!!
You seem to share a vice common among some Europeans of having difficulty telling friend from foe.
WikiLeaks: fear of offending Muslims allowed extremists into Britain ahead of 7/7 London bombings
University campuses are 'hotbeds of Islamic extremism'
Being too PC led us to shelter terrorists, says ex-minister

Does the BBC view Israel's existence as a legitimate 'grievance'?
Sadly, I've been proved right. Britain IS a centre of terror. Tragically, our rulers can't see the truthWell, at least someone is being deported:
Afghan Christians to be deported despite death fearsYou should probably get out more. Mmm... quite
Well,... do let us know how that whole thing works out. I'm sure you'll be happier with that lot than any Americans. Cheers! (You might want to take that literally

Re:Earlier Reports of CasesThat's the first time I've seen Christianity blamed for Chinese censorship! But why not, it makes so much sense, with the total lack of religious persecution and all.
But with the advent of Christianity with its much more constricted views of right and wrong, other civilizations changed.
We surely wouldn't want constricted views of right and wrong. Go anarchy! -
Re:Politically interesting in the US, too."Notice that nations like Russia and China don't have religious fundamentalists participating in organized attacks against science and scientific discovery. "
Thats because in China religion is pretty much illegal and they jail you, torture you or kill you for being a Christian especially if you speak out.

"The largest number of testimonies comes from central Henan Province, where persecution has dramatically escalated since 1999. Li's group has also collected partial reports on 17,000 others, mostly Christians, persecuted for their religious beliefs.Li is also documenting the cases of 117 religious people who have died while in official custody, 700 who have been put in labor camps, and 550 who are wanted by the police but are in hiding. He is also investigating 300 police officers accused of being especially abusive."[christianitytoday]
That sounds so much better than here were we let those fundies run rampant! Is this what you want and the example we should follow?

Re:Fuck Israel
Again, you seem to be confused. The attack that kicked off the latest wave of violence was not conducted by Hamas but by Hezbollah. This attack had nothing to do with the Israel/Palestine land dispute. That is merely an excuse that genocidal maniacs like President Marmaduke of Iran like to hide behind.
Let us also not forget that before the nation of Israel was RE-ESTABLISHED after WWII, Arab Muslims were all-too-eager to collaborate with Adolf Hitler in his genocidal wet-dream by helping him purge Jewish immigrants from the British mandate of Palestine. Just google for "Haj Amin al-Husseini." And that's just one example from the 20th century. Let's face it - when it comes to people of other races and religions living in their midst, Muslims have a very shabby track record. That problem still persists today. Re:What Are They Doing About It?
>Like after someone shoots an abortion doctor in the name of "unborn children" I know, because it's so awful when someone kills someone in order to liberate some group which happens to be oppressed and unable to do anything about it for themselves. Does that mean I think people should go and shoot abortion doctors? No, I think it's nearly as bad as killing the babies. Because I think the judicial system should give the doctors a fair trial and *then* put them in the chair. Just like Nuremburg and all that. >Because that kind of passive, tacit approval of the terrible acts being committed by Christians and others, especially in the name of religion, is certainly how it looks to me. Open your eyes: http://www.persecution.org/newsite/index.php I find it interesting that christians are not all that close to #1 in the position of people doing bad things in the name of a religion (althouh it's interesting to note that islam was started off with the help of an ex-catholic priest... btw, I do not consider true catholics to be christians - I don't think you can be honestly catholic and honestly christian at the same time) Are christians innocent of any wrong doing? Of course not, because we're all human, and humans do stupid, bad, wrong, evil things. Even if they don't believe in doing them. I believe stealing is wrong, but I remember once when I was a kid, I stole a candy from the store.. because I thought it was okay? No. Because I thought since I was going to do it, it must mean it was okay, because God would stop me if it wasn't? No. I did it because I'm human, and humans do stupid things sometimes. But I still know it's wrong, and I'll still tell anyone else who does it that it's wrong (not because I'm arrogant, but because it *is* wrong). Don't judge a philosophy by the people who say they believe it, and then act like they don't. That's like saying C is a terrible programming language because you see people writing code with buffer overrun vulnerabilities in it. It's a deficiency in the application, not in the theory itself. I mean, I think Newton's hairdo looked stupid, but it doesn't stop me from thinking calculus is pretty cool. Judge the philosophy for itself. (And by the way, if anyone's wondering, I'm a Reformed Presbyterian - look up the second reformation (Scotland, 1600s) some time, it's where my church gets a lot of its ideas from)

nice revisionist history
Funny, but I seem to remember a lot of Christians being persecuted and hated, both now and in the first centuries of their existence.
